I would like to see a 140gr E-Tip in 6.5. I am surprised they don't because Barnes only does 100,120 and 127 in theirs so it would have its own market.

I wanted to try some of those when I still had my 264 Win Mag but there seemed to be impossible to find here for a long time. Still plan on trying them in our 260 and 6.5x55 so looking forward to seeing how they work in your 6.5 Creedmoor.

I contacted nosler last week with the same question, they said 140 gr wont stabilize in the 6.5. That's too bad because I wanted to go leadfree in my 6.5 Swede. The 140 Partition works very well in my rifle though.

Does anyone have experience with the nosler E-Tip 120 gr in 6.5x55 on whitetail deer size game. My 140 gr Partitions perform very well but would like to try the E-Tips and am concerned 120 gr not enough weight.

I wouldn’t be concerned in the least. That 120 ETip is going to lose less weight than a Partition and likely penetrate further, which as you already know is plenty far enough :mrgreen:

You'll do well with the 120 grain E-Tip. I'm using the 130 grain E-Tip in my 270 WSM, and it works very well on a variety of game from small to large.

I wouldn’t worry in the slightest about penetration with the 120’s. You may find that they like quite a “jump” to the lands. My 270 and 7mm RM shoot best with them .100” and .105” off the lands. However, my 308 Win likes them .020” off, with 2.800” OAL at 2952 fps average velocity.

So 2 out of 3 of mine like them set a good bit back. I have another Remington 783 in 308 that I haven’t fired yet, so I don’t know about that one yet. Work has really been cutting into my range time. It’s off subject, but can you die from that? Lol. Sure feels like it.

I set my 140 gr at .012 off the lands and it shot so well I left it there.

I would use the 120 E tip on elk without hesitation.

I tried the E-Tips 120 grain at .070 off lands OAL 3.069. Accuracy was all over the place, also the primers show slight cratering. Used the starting load. I'm not sure what to do next. I will definitely be using my beloved Partitions this deer season.

The E-Tip does deliver the best accuracy with a sizable jump to the lands. I usually start at 0.100 inch off the lands. In most loads, I receive acceptable to exceptional accuracy.

I wish I could see that in my loads. I've seen the same accuracy at .005" off the lands as I have at .100" of the lands.
