125 grain BT in 300 RUM

and i have said that same thing all along about matching your bullets to the game. fast moving light weight BTs dont belong in the hands of dumby's. PT all the way

The PT is always a good choice, regardless of impact velocity. The rear core will hold together and penetrate. The BT is designed for impact velocities below 3000 fps.
Penetration test I did over 20 yrs ago revealed that a 150 gr PT penetrated deeper than a 180 gr PSPCL into wet phone books from a 30-06 at 100 yds.
The 150 gr PT in a 300 Win Mag up close will work fine.

i couldnt agree more on fast moving PT's and hitting game up close. the first one that i put into a deer was at 30yds. and it opened a 1in. hole all the way through. I mean i saw blood and daylight and the deer dropped, and the one right next to it that was shot with a 300 win. ran 600 yards after being hit with a 180 speer hot core that popped inside and made no exit. mine was hit with the good old 2506 and it was a 100gr. pt going 3350. by the way it take 1gr. less powder in my gun to get the pt. to that speed than i use for the matchking of the same wieght. so always use enough bullet to kill fast. and the pt is the best big game bullet i have ever tested

Amen to that!

My earlier comment about the 150 gr 300 Win Mag was in reference to factory cup and core loads. Not a good choice for WT deer hunting when your shots are usually much less than 75 yds.

I have shot several deer as well as a couple Antelope and a Black Bear with the 150 gr PT from a 30-06. I always had a nice exit wound.

I have also used the 140 gr PT in a 280 Rem for WT Deer. Always got an exit at ranges of 10 yds to 300 yds on deer.
