130 Accubond 270 WSM load

Yup that is what I am thinking Doc. That couples with the lightweight Tikka T-3 Lite would be great!

I would not feel undergunned with a load built with 140 ABs in my 270WSM.

This elk didn't like 140 AB's much either Fotis.

I will be running the 160 AB's in the 7WSM. Just about the same in my book. Probably not a lick of difference between the two in the field.

I finally got a chance to load some rounds and shoot them but my velocities seemed really low.

I loaded the 130 AccuBond with 63 grains of Reloader 22 and every round is at max COL of 2.86".

For example. Nosler's load manual has 63 grains of Reloader 22 at 3330 fps. My chrono reading was 2890 fps. Unfortunately I didn't have as much time as I wanted and really only got to shoot my 63 grain loads and since I have a rifle hunt next week they will have to do for now since I have enough loaded and ready to hunt. One the up side they shot real well. I was consistently putting 2 nearly in the same hole but my X Bolt is very temp sensitive and the 3rd round tends to be a little of a flyer but still 3 shots easily under an inch at 100 yards (usually around 3/4").

After my hunt I will see about playing with my powder load a little more and see what kind of results I get but for now I have total confidence in the accuracy and performance of the 63 grain loads but am curious as to why in the word I am off by 400 fps or so. Any ideas?

BC, yeah, I would imagine you will be upwards of 66-68 grains of RL22 with a 130..

Good luck, still a super load at 3K, but you have alot of room to grow. I think I run 65.5 with a 150 PT

I decided to start out at 63 because Nosler load manual said it was the most accurate and 3330. I have a 23" barrel so I figured the rounds would be around 3250 but was shocked to be under 2900. The Nosler load manual says 65 grains is max load. Would I be ok at 66-68 grains pressure wise?

Nobody but your rifle knows that, but you should be fine.

BC, Fotis is right but I doubt you'll have any issues with the AB getting what Nosler states, you'll just be higher on the charge weight. Go a grain at a time till your getting speeds your happy with.

I will obviously use these loads for my hunt at the end of this week. This Sunday I might be able to get back out there and try a few more loads. If I have time I will load a few at 65 grains, 66 grains and maybe 67 grains and see what that gives me.
