130gr. vs. 140gr. Accubond for Wyoming?

Thanks Dr. Mike. I now have the .270 and 300 Win mag dialed in with accubonds. Next up will be my 30:06. My best group is 7/8 inch at 100 yds. with 180 accubonds. Dang it , I,m out of 180 acuubonds. I got the confidence though.

NIce job on the load development! Make sure you reshoot your loads to verify and you are set to go.

Good Advice JD338. One group don,t necessarily make a good load. Still need to blow the dust off the chrony and check the velocity as well.

I load for 2 of the 270's. A Sako and a Remington Mtn rifle. 140 Accubonds, 58 gns H4831sc and Fed primers make them both sub moa.

Yes you have Ridge Runner. I remember you specifically disputing the max impact velocity of 3100 as bogus. Nosler finally changed it to " unlimited". I supose you deserve a little credit for that change.

OK Jay. 61 grains of H4831SC-perfect for the 130,s. 60 grains of H4831SC-perfect for the 140,s. rem brass-perfect. cci-200 primers-perfect. At 100 yards these loads print the same place on the target in my rifle. My plan on which bullet weight to use come opening morning of mule deer season is essentially as follows. I will need a left pocket and a right pocket. The left pocket will contain 5 ea 130 accubonds. The right pocket will contain 5 ea. 140 accubonds. On opening morning I will simply perform the wet finger test. If the finger detects wind

This is Wyoming we are discussing, so you can stop at the If the finger detects wind, and replace it with WHEN the finger detects wind.

I hear that. Maybe thats why Pop wants to move to Arizona. Might have to use colder loads there though.

Finally got to shoot today, been picking up extra days at work so I can get paid to hunt. I was happy with the 140gr. Accubonds 58grns. of H4831sc, and I found some CCI primers. If I would have stopped at a three shot group it would have been about an inch, but #4 took it to inch and a half and #5 took it to two. I outside neck turnned the brass just enough to clean it up and seated .020" off the lands. I'm kinda jealous of some of the groups others are shooting, but it's my Dad's old Rem. 721 in 270Win. I'm going to load some more 140gr. and go back to a 3 shot group.

Maybe you could give your rifle a really deep cleaning and letting the barrel cool down alot might get your groups in there tight. No reason to shoot 5 shots with a hunting rifle. If you are doing well at 3, just stay there. 5 is for varmint guns! You have a great load and with a hair more tweaking, you will be in great shape. Sounds like it would work just fine with what you have though! Scotty

It,s sweeeet. Finally got there. The sweet spot is .063 off the lands for the 140 accub, and .078 off the lands for the 130,s in my rifle. Todays results had three 140,s touching and two 130 touching with third round about an 1/8 inch away. Took four or five trips to the range using different seating depths to find that sweet spot. Prior to today groups were around one to one and a half inches. Yea know that rumer that accubonds are accurate. It,s truuuue.

Hubcap, I'm glad that you finally found your sweet spot for the Accubonds. It is great when a plan comes together. I have had pretty good luck using the Nosler #6 Manual COL's for their bullets in my rifles.

Yea, I know what you mean. I used up nearly a whole box for each bullet. It was well worth it. I,m working the 150 BT right now. Tell you what they rival the AccuBond in the accuracy dept. I have not hunted with either yet. That is likely to change. I have always been happy with 130,140 and especially the 150 Partition. These other bullets are less money so why not give em a try.
