140gr. or 120gr. for Wife's 7mm-08

Powerstroke, said it, the 7mm-08 will pretty much shoot anything 120, 130, 140, 145, 150 and do it well. Will be doing some load work between now and my hunt slated for south of Baton Rouge, just to see all it will do although it has shot all the above weights really good so far. The 140gr AccuBond sure did it's job on those three deer I killed in Tenn.

Might be hard to beat the 140 AB unless things bigger than deer are on the hunt. Then a 150 or 160 PT might be worth the effort. Scotty.

Yes Scotty, I would agree that the 140gr AB would be hard to beat for most things a 7mm-08 would be used for. You know me, I am just playing with loads and having fun. :)

This is the result of what a 140 AccuBond did for my wife this week. The deer was standing at the first tore up dirt where it was hit. My wife used a fence post to support the forend of her Encore and told me she felt absolutely no recoil when she shot. Surprise, surprise! After throwing away most of the front shoulders, she understands to shoot behind them next time if she can. But in the end, she' killed 2 deer (first one a month ago) and I've been blessed with none. My butchering and cooking skills are improving, however. Ground the last hamburger today and glad to be done....for now.

YoteSmoker,

Congratulations to your lady! She sounds as if she has her Encore down pat. Good to hear that your skills in the distaff arts are improving.

Great shot on her part. I like them down and don't mind loosing a little meat if I don't have to go hunting for the deer. The doe I shot dropped in her tracks, the five point went 20yds and the 8 point about ten yards. The 140gr AccuBond is so accurate in my rifle and it is a very efficient killer. Congrats to you wife for taking two deer and glad you are cooking better.
