I am just wanting to know what are some good bullet, powder combos to load up for a 300 WSM using 165grn bullets to take down an elk i already have some 165 grn Barnes TTSX, Nosler AB, and Hornady IB bullets along with RL15, RL17, RL19, and IMR4350 powders as well, does anyone have a good combo using any of those bullets with any of those powders. Thanks

I have no experience whatsoever with the 300WSM but I would think that RL17,4350 and 19 would all work pretty well with your chose bullets. Seems like all three of them are excellent and should be more than plenty for elk. Good luck on your load work, I am sure the 300WSM shooters will be along to give you more info than you can handle! Of the powders you list, the first I would try is IMR 4350.

I own two rifles chambered in 300 WSM and have settled on H 4350 for use in mine. With either 165, 168, or 180 grain bullets it gives great groups and speeds without having to be compressed too much.

I use Winchester cases and Fed 215M primers in my loads.

I have spent the last month working on my 300wsm. Similar bullets and powder you mentioned.
My best results were with. Winchester case, 215 primer, 168TTSX, max load of RL-17 or IMR4831
Both powders are about the same. I have not picked one yet. Brian

Would agree with Brian on the IMR4831, Fed 215 primer with the 165 grain bullet. I've never hunted with the 165 preferring the 180 grain but I found the best accuracy and velocity with IMR4831.

RL 17 and the 4350 series should do well for you.

h4350 and h414 work best for me with barnes ttsx. h414 and imr4831 work best with the nosler accubonds in my rifle. magnum primers on all, except standard primers with imr4831.

My best shooting loads in my 300WSM with 165gr bullets are:
65.0grs of IMR-4350 @ 3015fps
69.0grs of Win. WXR or Reloader-22 @3020fps
Win. Large Rifle Magnum Primer
Win. Cases were used with the loads above.
I did a trial with Reloader-17 and 165gr bullets. My velocities were up there, but my groups were not too good, around 2" or more.My other loads will give me around 1/2-3/4".
65.0grs gave me 3160fps and 66.0grs gave me 3220fps.I plan on trying 63-64grs next time to see if I can tighten those groups up a little.
