180 AB from elk

These 180 gr. Accubonds were recovered from the elk I shot in Montana. They were fired from a 300 WSM with a muzzle velocity approx. 2900 fps.

The bullet on the left is the first bullet fired at 400 yards. It went in the right side of the elk, through the ball of the shoulder on the left side, and was under the skin.

The bullet on the right is one of finishing off bullets fired at some distance between 50 and 100 yards. All I could see at that point was the left front shoulder. I put three bullets into the shoulder before the elk put her head down. The left scapula looked like Swiss cheese. This bullet was somewhere in the shoulder meat of the front shoulders. I assume it was in the right shoulder meat.

Congratulations on the elk and nice shooting. Those Accubonds sure deserve praise for how well they shoot and perform. Looks like they did exactly as they should. Penetrate deeply, expand nicely, and hold together.
