180 Partition 30-06 R22 info?

I have used the 200 Partition over R22 with great results. This was in a 24" bbl Mod 700. I am starting over with a Mod 700 Mountain rifle and its 22"bbl. Before I work up some loads, has anyone found a good recipe for this kind of set up ( 22", R22, standard or mag primer?) I have, fortunately, a good supply of H4831SC, H4350, Big Game as other potential powders. I have only used 4831 and 4350 in the past for 180's, but that was in longer barreled rifles. I'd appreciate any input, thanks.

Nosler #7 lists 62-grs RL22 as the most accurate load. My rifles did better with around 61 and I did better all together with Ramshot Hunter (57-58 grs) and 56-grs of IMR4350. Looking forward to your results.

I used 60+ grains of H-4831, in my 06. Back in the day. I would probably use a little less now! I don't have. 4350 load.

Bill, The IMR 4350 load for the .30-06 with 180 grain bullets is 57.0 grains and CCI 200 primer.

Do you mean 57 grains?

I don't know how you could get 67 grains of IMR4350 in a 30-06 case. With 155s I can barely squeeze 59 grains in!

I have used Hunter and H4350 for my 30-06. I was using 58-59 grains of Hunter, but I think I have abandoned the effort due to some pretty big velocity variance.

Lately I've been using 57.5 grains of H4350 with 180 ABs and PTs. No pressure signs, seated well off the lands. Over book max by a grain, though. My chrono says about 2800 fps.

61.0 Gr of Reloder 22 in Nosler cases WLR primer and 180 AB has given me about 2,750 fps and good accuracy out of my Rem 700CDL. Seating well off the lands. Good luck

My savage 110 with a 22 inch barrel does real well with RL-22 and the 180 PT. I shot several groups under moa with 60 grains. cci-200 primers and RP brass. I have not checked the speed over the chrony with 60 grains. One of these days I will work up to 61 and check the velocity. Rol P stated 2750 with 61 grains. Not bad at all in a 22 inch barrel.

My Rem 700CDL has a 24" barrel but I would expect about 2,700 fps with a 22" tube.

61.5 grains RL22; 3.33 OAL in my rifle, 180 grain; Winchester brass. Slightly over an inch at 300 yards. Typically getting sub moa out of my Ruger, the wife's model 70, my brother's Browning A bolt. Seems to be a very good load for just about any 06.

Lately I've been using 57.5 grains of H4350 with 180 ABs and PTs.

+1. Out of my 22" 700 ADL these ran right at 2,750.

I was going to use Winchester brass ( which, of course has a tad more capacity than Remington) but for grins, I weighed some new Nosler brass that was a gift. Turns out the Remington weighs av 190gr, the Winchester 183 and the Nosler 180! I was slightly surprised, but pleased, it is really nice brass. At the time I received it, I had sold my only 30-06 and just necked up 20 for my 35 Whelen AI. I was really impressed with the quality. So I am going to use this Nosler brass for this 180PT load. I'm also going to start with the BR2 primer. "If" the numbers vary too much, I'll come back with the Fed 215M and try that. It made a big difference on a R15/250PT load in my 35 WAI, but I normally use BR2 with R22. My rifle is being pillar bedded and having the Kiplinger single set trigger installed. I really like these triggers as, at the bench, or on coyotes, it is dreamy, ha. Putting a Leupold 2.5x8 on it. I like to try two bullets at a time, i.e this 180PT and will work with the Speer 130 HP in Remington brass over AA2460 (just because I have some) I use the Fed 215M with that powder. Good luck Jim. Seems like from the data, RL22 has the ability to move those 180 PT's out real well. What kinda rifle is it?

Hey there Scotty ( did I tell you my son in law marine just made Master Sgt? Now I know two of them, ha) Its a Remington Mountain Rifle, pristine. I found it on GB from a guy in NM. I was trying to make a little Mauser 98 308 shoot ( it was done up like a British stalking rifle) but it had issues. The chamber was almost too short, would barely chamber a factory round, and I had to really size my brass down to get it just OK. It also scattered any bullet I tried from 150 to 180gr. It liked the speer 130 and Nosler 125, but it had a 10" twist! I jetted that sucker and went back to the 30-06, ha. If I ever fool with another .308 I'll try a Mod 700 SPS with the 24" barrel, or even the varmint model. Although, I don't know what I'd do with it, I like to use my hunting rifle for coyotes, so this 06 will work swell with my 35 WAI and my BAR 270. I'm old enough now ZI want to hunt with my favorites only. You ever get that Mod 70 338 to shoot?

Oh yeah, the old 338 turned around pretty well with 210 PT's and 200 AB's. Did pretty well with it this past Fall.

Congrats to your son in law. Being selected for MSgt in todays Marine Corps says alot with the draw downs.
