This afternoon I did some more load work trying different OAL with the 180gr Ballistic tip that was showing so much promise and it did not let me down. Here is a five shot group 2797-2804fps using W760, 210primers and Win brass and not bad for a rifle that does not cost much.

Outstanding group! That probably doesn't need any more tweaking  I really like your picture and am curious what your process is for producing and adding graphics, if you could share that with us? My stack of old targets and cut-out groups does not work well for a decent reference. I record the data OK, but it is unwieldy to dig through.

I thoroughly enjoyed your comparison test and write-up, thanks for sharing!

Looks like an excellent load to me. Of course the guy on the trigger deserves a good deal of credit too. Darn good shooting there!

The 180 NBT has has been very accurate in my 30/06's with very little effort. I would love to recover one but they just smash our whitetail and keep on trucking.

Good shooting

I use On Target to measure my groups anymore.

That is a great 5 shot group. Looks like you found the sweet spot.

Mike, I believe you are there. As usual, the group reveals the potential of that rifle. Good work.

Sure glad the work is over so I can relax now. thanks, I think I like this low cost rifle.

How could you not like it when it shoots like that.

Great shooting mike!!! I had similar accuracy out of the one that I had. They are a very nice rifle.

Marlin bolt actions are phenominal for the price.
Good shooting is required though!

The .30-06 always impresses me with its accuracy with either 165 or 180 Ballistic Tip bullets.

Mike I know you do not want to hear it but

YOU'RE DONE.

But then you're a tinkerer.

FOTIS, bear witness to the following words. τὸν παλαιὸν ἄνθρωπον τὸν φθειρόμενον κατὰ τὰς ἐπιθυμίας τῆς ἀπάτης, ἀνανεοῦσθαι You are looking at a new man when it comes to this 06 and this load. Remind me if I have not put off the old desire and pick up the old habits with this rifle and load.
