Looking for any pros or cons on the 300 win mag with 200 vs 180 gr accubonds.
Gun to be used in will be a Remington model 700 BDL shots will be under 400 yds
and on all different species here in B.C.

Thanks for your time

Personally I think the 180s and the 300 win were a match made in heaven. Just my 2 cents. With your shot distance the extra velocity should help with flatter trajectory.

I would use whichever shot better. I didn't run the numbers but bet you won't see a big difference in trajectory and both will have enough retained velocity at 400 to reliably expand.

Either will work well, my thinking is you have a .300 win mag so use it to its full potential and go with the 200's.

Thanks for the info so far guys. It shoots Speer 180gr BTSP quit well just wanted to try something different and have seen a few boxes of each the 180 and 200 accubonds for
sale lately.

I shoot 165 for deer and 180's for bigger game like elk in my .300 WM. The last elk I shot was at 400 yards and the bullet passed through both shoulders and bottom of spine for a DRT kill then ploughed into the dirt on the opposite side. I find the 180's to shoot very flat and potent.
However, if I was hunting 400 yards and under, in British Columbia, where Grizzly bears and large moose live, I might be inclined to go with a 200 grainer.

I've been shooting the 200 gr. Speer Hot Cores and 200 gr. Partitions in my .300 Win. Mags. I dropped a cow elk at a lasered 530 yards with the Speer bullet, one shot DRT. With that said I'd go for the 200 gr. AB first and the 180 AB only if it shot better in your rifle. Just me.

If I could find some 200gr speers here would try them but haven't had any luck yet but have seen some accubonds.

I like the 200's for what it is. Mine loves H1000 and NAB 200 grainers. Either will work though.

I shoot 180 AB's and get great results at about 2930 fps. I shoot a Remington 700 bdl stainless 1995 model 24" barrel. 180g NAB with 75g H4831sc backit off about 3 grains and work up, I get 3/4 in groups and 74 was no change just 60 fps more at 75g.
