2013 SPRING BEAR

Going to set up 2 baits tomorrow. My cousins 15 year old daughter wants to come out and put an arrow in one. Should be a fun month or two. Knocked off 16 beavers this week that will fill up my 2 barrels and then some. Love that beaver bounty.

I checked and replenished baits this morning. One is being hit the other is not. I'm helping my cousins daughter who is 15 years old. She would like to take a bear with her bow. This would be her first big game animal. Unfortunately the bait being hit has an elevated box blind not set up for archery. Lots of time left and the rut is a few weeks away and then the big boars will start roaming a little further. I have a tag and always carry a rifle just in case I stumble across a nice big boar. I won't sit at the baits as it is for the young gal and I already have shot a number of bears. I always run into several bears every year when I'm out looking for coyotes and beavers. We are having fun.

After a almost a month this guy decided to check out the bait. He has come in 2 nights in a row in the dark. This is the new stand which we set up for the young lady. Hopefully her and her dad can make it out this week sometime. The season runs until June30 so lots of time left. The boars are starting to wander now looking for females.

It looks as if the bait is drawing bruins. Hopefully, she'll get a fine specimen.
