Well boys,
Got good news the other day I'm getting my Cow Elk License for the 4th season hunt in Colorado this year, Hoping to finally try out the 300 RUM with 200 Accubonds.

Now to get practicing at the 300-500 yd ranges will be fun. Last season I saw everything in Big Game but the Cows,

Don

Don, I'm pulling for you to connect with the RUM. It is a great cartridge for elk.

Last Colorado cow hunt we had all we saw was trophy class Mule deer and lots of them but they were like hanging out in people's front yards? real close to 200 class mule deer and that was tuff cause we had planned on a mule deer hunt and only drew cow elk ? Hope ya get a big old mature cow as they make some fine jerky with the neck meat !

Don,

Congratulations on the CO cow elk tag. Hope you can seal the deal with the 300 RUM and a 200 gr AB.

Thanks to everyone,
I'm hunting the 4th Season in Creede Colorado area again, same bunch of Friends and Family as last year. We had a blast together. It was the first we all had been together in years, We weren't even out of our vehicles 2-minutes last year when I got ribbed about a Bull I missed but blew a tree limb off in front of me that I didn't see back in 1999!  You can imagine how it went all week then. LOL

I saw everything but Cow Elk. Moose, Big Horn Sheep, Large Bull Elk & Mule Deer. Saw a Lynx too.
Had a great hunt, looking forward to it in November.

Haven't been to the range this year yet, just have to get the 300 RUM out and send some 200 AB down range. 8)

Nice. I know your 300 will get it done Don. Hopefully you can lay the hammer down on some elk with that rifle!

Can't wait for the Fall to start!

Don, I prefer a cow Elk in the freezer over a bull . That 300RUM with a 200gr bullet will reach out and touch anything you want it.
Look forward to a story on this upcoming hunt with photos if possible !

Blessings,
Dan

Congrats!
I look forward to reading about this hunt. Good luck, have fun, and git 'er done.

Thanks to all, now to find time to get to the Range. The work load is keeping me busy for now. :(

Don

Just spoke to a friend of mine and he said he was down in the Green Horn yesterday and and saw 2 humongous Bulls and a few normal bulls! He has been in Colorado going on 10 years and said they were the biggest bodied Bulls he had ever seen! Very southern most part in the Wet Mountains!

Terry,

Colorado does have some large Bulls. I saw a very large Bull last year while hunting Cows. He was quite a sight to say the least. I'm anxious to return this year again to hunt with Family and Friends.

Don

Don, What rifle, load are you using? Happy to hear you got the tag and sending best wishes for good weather and a wonderful hunt.

Al,
I have a Rem 700 in 300 RUM. Load I developed is 200 AccuBond with 91.5 of Reloader 25, 215 Mag Primer, Remington cases. Velocity is 3,100 fps. Love this load just anxious to give her a test run on a Cow Elk this year.

Don

Don -
Good luck on your hunt this year. I've put a couple cows in the freezer here in CO with my 300RUM.
For the most part the elk are in great shape this year. Wet fall, spring & summer has been good to them.

Thanks Powerstroke,
I have been watching the weather in my area there and have noticed you are getting lots of rain fall which equals lots of vegetation for the Elk. Hoping for a good late season hunt. Good luck to you as well this year hunting.

Don
