Just received good news yesterday, I'm getting my Bull license for 1st rifle season.
Just purchased the Air Fare for a killer price at 156.00 round trip for the hunt, couldn't believe that from Southwest. Anyway, now to get a new scope for the RUM to get ready for the hunt.

Don

Congrats! How many points did it take to draw in your hunt area? I'd like to elk hunt in Colorado in the near future.

Man, the stars and the planets must have been aligned for that to take place. Congratulations, Don. Now the anticipation can begin to build.

Didn't have any points, just submitted for 1st choice with 2nd choice for a Cow License. Just got lucky getting a Bull Tag. Haven't hunted this area in 9-years, anxious to get back there.

Dr. Mike,
Yes the stars and planets have been aligned for some reason this year, I haven't pulled the trigger on an Elk since 2001! :( Hoping this could be the year for me. Simply put I call it Favor and Blessing of the Lord.

True enough. May God bless you with success in this hunt, Don.

Don, good luck on your Colorado Elk. I'm hoping to spend 2nd season (7 Day season) in my area of Oak Creek. Found some good public land a couple of years ago and decided to give it a try. It's a wilderness area which, if I bag an Elk, (Bull only) is going to require some backpacking to get the animal out. (short of finding a horse). I spoke with a conservation officer whom I have become friends with over the years and his comment was with the constant rise of license prices in Colorado their starting to see left over licenses much more frequently. This may have worked to your benefit. Again, best of luck.

Good luck with the hunt. Not sure how you scored such an air fair , you would spend well over a 150$ in fuel just driving easily. Hopefully your luck continues and the bulls are bugling.

Congrats on the bull tag buddy. Very happy for you!

What are you going to scope the old RUM up with?

Scotty,
I'm going with Vortex Viper HS LR 4 x 16 x 50 soon as I come up with the coins to purchase it

Don

Don,

Congratulations on the bull tag. Good choice on your scope.
What load are you going to feed your 300 RUM?

Congratulations Don. The elk should probably still be rutting a bit when you go on the hunt. Wish you the best of luck. What bullet you using in that cannon you shoot?

Don, I've got my fingers crossed for you. I hope you are able to drop the hammer on a big herd bull.
