I drew antelope in Wyoming-I think I’ll take one of the .284 family, just not sure which one! Have fun with the scouting process, your hunting area sounds like fun

Well got there a few days early n saw antelope n bighorns the two days prior to the season opening, saw two different bucks going to a water hole two days in a roll. So opening morning went there first spotted a buck over 2000 yrds away, put a stalk on using terrain to get close, came over a ridge n buck had bedded down 780 yrds away from us n we were busted, then another antlope buck came over the ridge n chased the first one away. I thought maybe I could use terrain to get closer but they were always 700-800 yrds away, covered 5 miles playing that game before they took off. Later spotted a larger buck antelope n took a 570 yrd shot (longest shot I have ever taken) I hit just low. He took off after the shot. Then next valley a buck w 3 does. Never could get closer than 500 yrds to them n they took off. My partner spotted a big lope buck but was on the wrong side of a canyon n no trails we knew of to get there. Then about 530 while headed back to camp I decided to stop n walk to a water hole for cows you couldn't see from the road. I was 50 yards away from it when my pronghorn stepped out from behind a cow. It was like a dream n it just materialized. Made sure I had a clear shot n dropped it. I didn't even think about having rifle sighted in at 200 yrds so at 40 yrds I spined it but it dropped. First time ever filling a tag on opening day. 14" but a trophy to me n I can still say I have never killed any big game further than 80 yrds.![]()
