2026 Hunting Season

Wife and I went pig hunting at Dos Plumas Ranch. Wife had so much fun, she booked us for next year while I was driving us back home. She got her first pig, the smaller one on a stalk hunt, 40 yd shot, standing unsupported. Her second was a 218 lb bruiser of a boar. My big boar was 143 lbs. I got both my bow shot and my rifle shot on film (videos attached). It was good times and lots of meat.
Congratulations to you and your wife on your successful hog hunt at Dos Plumas Ranch. My wife and I were there last week. We must have just missed you guys. Great place, good people and a ton of fun!

We booked for 14-15 April next year already. There were a couple slots still available for those dates. We are taking our oldest son with us next year. It was the best TX hunt I've had so far to date. More than a few major disappointments at other locations. Not Dos Plumas.

Dos Plumas does it right. Jordi and Quentin are first class folks and make sure you have a great time on the ranch.
We plan on going back.

Shot my 1st spring gobbler this morning. Was in the blind by daylight didn't hear any birds all morning. At 7:50 took a little nap At 8 i looked out the back window of the blind and there he was with 2 hens. Didn't even have my red dot turned on got it turned on stuck the barrel out the window when the dot was on his head he got it. 10 1/2 inch beard and 1 1/8 inch spurs. Don't have a scale to weigh it but estimate it to be 22lbs.

Nice tom! Congratulations on your bird. Is this your "1st spring gobbler" for the morning, for the season, or for your lifetime? Once you start tagging them, hunting them can become addictive.

Congratulations on a great bird. You did it right.

Hunted a couple of weeks ago for Fallow deer. Conditions for the farmer were borderline drought conditions so competition from deer for their stock is not appreciated right now. Thankfully the day after we left they got about 18mm (3/4 inch) which would have been very helpful, particularly where crops had been sown and were struggling. Anyway to cut a long story short, we took 4 fallow does off the property and left with a full camp fridge. My son using his 270 got 2 and I managed a first for me, 2 deer with one shot from the 30-06 at 321 yards just as the sun set. Had to butcher them up under the headlights of the ute.
