2026 Rifle Plans

I love everything about that gun! very nice work, can't wait to hear how it shoots. I really like that stock too, turn around time wasn't terrible either.
Overall it wasn't bad of a wait, the longest pole was the barrel, and IF I hadn't wanted the 400 Mod BB so badly, I could have ordered that from Bugholes or Redhawk and had it in a week.

From yesterday, the last 3 rds at 220yds while finishing barrel break in:

.223 Lapua brass, mixed lot Sierra 69 OTMs, thrown charges of TAC, and a book recommended OAL. I'm going to play with it for about 40 more rds, then do load development for my fire-forming load.

Gotta love taking 90 minutes to put 20 rds down range, but it's over.

That works!
Nice shooting

I had to add a 270 back to the safe. I had a Browning X Bolt Hells Canyon and sold it. I actually missed that rifle and the 270 Win. I killed by first deer in NC with my dad's 270 and have been hunting with a 270 for most of my life. After deer season I had a chance to get get a 280AI or a Tikka at a good price and couldn't stand not having a 270 so I picked up a Tikka T3x Roughtech Tan. Just waiting on a couple parts to get it where I want and then will work on load development.

Although not a rifle, an unexpected firearm acquisition yesterday at the local annual gunshow...
A like new CZ Bobwhite G2 in 28 ga. for a great price! Couldn't pass it up!
And the 1/4" cast off is so slight that as a lefty I have no issues mounting blind and finding the bead in good alignment when I open my eyes! Susan also found it comfortable to mount and align the sights on target.
I know that they do make this in a Southpaw version, but have yet to see one...

Bought it from an older gentleman that used to do a lot of stockwork for the local gunsmith, that I have known for over 30 years, and is now well into his 80s and has suffered a number of strokes over the past few years and suffered a bad fall this spring, is selling off a number of his shotguns as he can no longer hunt or shoot. He said he only fired 2 rounds in it just to test its function before his first stroke. While his mobility has been greatly affected, at least he is up and moving around fairly well on his own, and is in good spirits! I think he is just glad to see it go to someone who will use and appreciate it!

And then I found a flat of Winchester 7 1/2 ammo for it at another table for a good price!

Looking forward to shooting and patterning it this spring! (And getting used to its double triggers.)

Great find Gil, hope it shoots well!

I don't really need anything new, but I picked up a T/C ProHunter frame fairly cheap so now? By the time I have a trigger job, maybe add a forend hanger, Cerakote the frame, buy a barrel, and fit it with new optics it isn't a cheap rifle. I could have bought another #1!

i bought a blonde, brunette and redhead a month ago

and then this big boy 7.5" to go with the 1895 cb and sbl in 45-70 that should be here on wednesday

as for other 2026 buys i ordered a custom 308win AR 20" barrel 11t from x-cal w/+2 gas and thermal fluting on both sides of the gas journal (mid july expected delivery). it was a curiosity buy due to supposed weight reduction vs sporter weight?

as for this year prospects, if it fits in an AR platform i'm buying...............mainly in to 10 platform as i have the 243win, 6.5creed, 260rem, 6.5prc, 277fury (65k max psi version),7-08rem, 7saum & 308win. looking to do a 458wsm AR and maybe buy a great lakes long action AR for parts for other long action magnum builds (264wm on that list). if all goes well i'll get a few mrad's and do different chamberings within the same bolt faces (mainly .540 and .590's). other possibilities include a big horn armory 500mag lever and/or 500automax. pistol wise i'm looking at adding more revolvers.

AR10 possible cartridges i don't have, but want
22creed
25creed
27cal short mag (closer to saum than wsm)
300saum
338wsm (built for 230-250grs)
a 22 or 25 saum would be a nice addition and could throw in a 24cal to boot

I'm waiting for my custom 6 BRA from Bat Machine, should be about a month away. Chose the Bat Machine MST 3 inch action, in case I like to go to the bigger 6mm one day. Placed an order for a new barrel a few months ago and I received a new Bartlien barrel for my 6 BR in case my barrel goes south. My 6 BR is still running strong, other than than, I haven't been shooting as much. Just decapped, annealed and wet tumbled 50 pieces of 13X fired Nosler 6.5 Creedmoor brass a few days ago. Last night I did some measurements since its been a year since I fired this rifle. I loosened the locking ring and added a 0 ring under the locking ring and adjusted gradually until my rifle bolt closed where I want it, then measured the headspace, right at .0025", then full sized bush, trimmed with the Giraud, pocket uniformed, ran a .263 Sinclair carbide mandrel to open the necks and cleaned the inside of the necks and its ready to prime. I remembered using the 120 Ballistic Tips on a doe and a red stag cow a few years ago. Dropped right there, and I have 5 boxes of those 120's and saving them, and I'm looking at 10 boxes of the 140 Ballistic Tips that has been sitting there for the last 5 years or so. I'm itching to see how this baby shoots with the 140's and H4350. I last was ringing steel at 800 yards with this rifle with Berger Hybrids, love that sound a few seconds after the shot. I like to test the 6.5 x 284 as well, last used it on a spike 2 years ago which took a shot to the right ear at 175 ish yards in 33 degree temps with the 143 ELD-X out of a box blind. I wonder how it will shoot the 140's Ballistic Tips and the 130 Accubonds, using H4831sc on my future tests. Here is a pic of the 6 BR barrel.
I need to start shooting more, just family life and chores comes first. Love being a first time Grandpa, enjoy being with my 2 month old grandson. I'll teach him how to fish, hunt, and reload once he gets older. Life is short, spend as much time with your kids and grandkids as much as you can. It's a blessing.
