.204 ?

Yes, Grandpa's .257 Weatherby destroyed bullets sometimes...

And I've seen guys at long-range matches blow up bullets, trying to drive them really hard from a fast-twist barrel.

Some years back I had a match bullet with a defective jacket basically unwrap itself as it headed downrange. Sounded wild!

I'd like to see what a 1:9 twist .204 barrel would do - I think it would shoot great! So I'm hoping one of you guys re-barrels to 1:9 and lets us all know how it works with various bullets!

If I was going to rebarrel my 527, I would consider going to a slightly heavier taper and 24 inch barrel for the .204. Might as well wring it for everything its got. A 45 gr .204 bullet at 3500 fps would be a well balanced load I believe.

That's my goal... burn up my .204's barrel. At the rate I'm shooting it now, it should take about 175 years. :(

Are you going to be shooting off a bench? If so, the 12 FV. I shot one in 223 that was unbelievably accurate but wouldnt want to lug it more than from the truck to the bench and back.

For the most part it will be for shooting off the bench and maybe close to the road. The 22-250 can go for the longer walks.
