I've been reloading for several years. Shotgun: since the late 80's. Rifle: about the same but I completely quit around the mid 90's and didn't start back till Covid hit. I've loaded thousands of 223, 243, 6.5, 270, 7Mag, 30/30, & 308's.
I just purchased my 1st 22-250 about a week ago. Today UPS delivered my brass, a 500 ct of (64 Grain) Tipped Sierra Gamechanger Bullets. I have the following powders on hand that I believe should work? @ least as a good starting point to get me firing b4 deer season goes out this coming Monday Feb 10....
CFE223, BL-C(2), IMR3031, IMR4895, IMR4350, H4831SC, N540, W760, W748, Reloader 7 & 19, & Varget.
Does anyone have any actual load data and wouldn't mind helping an old man out?

Congratulations on your 22-250. Great round that will deliver blazing speed and stellar accuracy.
What is the twist rate on your 22-250?

No idea? It's a low end Savage Axis. No Accu Trigger. It's definitely not on the level as one of my Belgium made BarII Safari Grades, lol. I also have Win StaBall Powder. I just loaded up 3 test rounds with 38.5 Grains of StaBall a few minutes ago. I'll test that load some time in the morning when I get done buck deer hunting. BTW, I tested multiple 3 shot groups using Speer 40 grain SP, Varget, IMR3031, & CFE223. Any load could have killed a deer at 300 yards but wasn't anywhere close to the bug hole groups I'm looking for.
Thanks, maybe I'll get it figured out? I killed one at 308 yards 3 days ago with that rifle and factory 50 Grain Hornaday V-Max ammo.

I’d locate some H380 and 60 grains Nosler Partitions. Refer to the online Nosler load data. I have an older 22-250 with a 1-14 twist and it stabilizes for me. I also have a newer 1-9 twist 22-250 that loves this combo.

If you have the old standard 1:14" twist, those Sierra 64 gr Game changer bullets most likely will not stabilize. Measure your twist rate before start your load development.

I'm working on a load for a 22-250 with a 64gn tbbc. With 33gn of w760 they key holed. Thats a starting load and a 1:14 twist rate. A winchester factory load with a 64gn power point stabilizes. Going to chrono the winchester load and try loading to that speed.

That would take all the "fun" out of it. I shot those STGC out of both my Bar II's. My daughters name us Sierra. I kinda have to shoot that bullet since that's literally where I got her name from, lol.

I've gotten lucky twice and loaded hole for hole ammo on my 1st try. I've also shot hundreds of rounds numerous times with many different rifles b4 finding what they liked. I don't really care if my bullet shoots 3578 FPS or 4,293 FPS. As long as it will do it inside a dime I'm happy. Both my Bar's shoot sub MOA and believe me that was a job.

That sounds promising. Good luck

I was thinking about contacting Savage and 🪓'n them?

I already have over 200 lbs of powder between shotgun, rifle and my little bit of 45 Colt reloading. Shirley I can build an accurate round out of something that I already have? I don't competition shoot. I literally only deer hunt. I do know how to research and locate components etc. I just cant find any data on the 22-250 & Gamechanger bullets. But thanks. I'm not bn a butthole. I'm already OVERSTOCKED BADLY!!!

Look at load data for another 64-65 gr bullet with one of your powders such as 4895, Varget. Use your bullet, start on low end and work up.

I completely understand. So many options. As others have mentioned, the barrel twist will be the key. Good luck.

I "think" that bullet has been discontinued by Sierra. They're really good about answering inquiries about their bullets if you call 'em on the phone which I'd recommend at this late date instead of an e-mail since you intend to hunt with the bullets on Monday.

What I'm worried about is that your bullet may be too long to stabilize in the .22-250 unless it's got a faster than normal barrel twist.

That's pretty common with the 22-250 as many of them were built with 1:14 twist rates for short, light varmint bullets. Some 55 grain bullets don't even stabilize well from some 22-250's. Mine has a 1:14 twist rate and doesn't do well with tipped 55 grain bullets. If I use a shorter bullet, it shoots great. Your 64 grain Sierra is longer than many .224" bullets, so I'm concerned about stability issues. Meaning they could keyhole through the target, landing a bit sideways...

Regards, Guy

Here's Nosler's data for their 64 grain bullet, which is a pretty stubby bullet despite the weight. If you use their data for your Sierra bullets, start low and work up. Not all 64 grain .224" bullets are the same. Just selecting the max charge is a bad idea, particularly since you don't have that exact bullet.

Thanks for the help guys. You van omit the question. Even at 100 yards I can tell the holes are not perfectly round. My 22-250 will not stabilize that heavy a bullet. I'll bet my 1 in 7 twist 5,56 AR will, lol. Now I'm staring on the 50 Gr V-Max. Thanks again for your knowledge. I've got it from here. HOPEFULLY & KNOCK ON WOOD!!!

They should work great in that 1:7 twist 5.56 rifle!

Guy do you know why that bullet was discontinued? Seems like a lot of trouble to make a bullet with all the set up and then drop it from your line up. Can’t imagine there was anything wrong with them.
