Hello everyone.....

I am getting ready to load the 40gr BT for 222 rem, but....

has anyone a favoured load using RL7 or H322?

and...

what COL would be suitable as a starting point for load development?

Thank you...

For the triple duce and a 40 gr BT.
H335 Start is 25.0 and MAX is 27.0 grs.
Another good powder is AA 2015BR.

Let us know how she shoots.

I use IMR-4198 for 40-55g bullets in my rem 700 .222 rem. It seems to love that powder. Come to think of it, I haven't used anything else. It shoots 40's under .2" at 100 yards and at 3600fps. I am using 21g, win case, cci small rifle, and my length is 2.170". It shoots good anywhere from 2.150-2.170, but the velocity and accuracy is better at the slightly longer length.

Hi I use blc2 and win 748, they both shoot very well , 50 gr bullet 52 gr bullet and 45 gr bullet start with 748 at 25 gr or blc2 at 25 gr work up my 788 222 is very forgiving and these work well. bhtr1d@yahoo.com

Would you have a preference for IMR4198 or H4198?

H322 as well as the BLC-2 has worked very well....but with a 52grn bullet.... also coming out of a Remington XBR.
748 has also worked well for me in both the .222 & .223, but in my opinion, the 748 is a dirty burning powder.

My 222 Rem. is a Rem. 700 BDL that I floated the barrel, glass bedded and installed a Shilen trigger. I use it for Montana ground squirrels and p-dogs. My load is 23.7 grains of H322, CCI BR-4 primers, Winchester brass and the 40 grain Sierra Blitzking bullet and it pushes 3426 FPS. OAL is 2.165. I found that the flat base Blitzking shot better in my rifle than both the Nosler BT and the Hornady V-Max. I have several varmint rifles and hunting rifles that prefer flat base bullets. Whenever those groups won't tighten up, give the flat base a try, usually this works for me.

IMR 4198----That said since Hodgdon purchased the IMR chane of powders I was told that they will now produce one type of 4198 at the IMR burning rate. The H 4198 is a little slower. Double check this with them though.
