my kid has a weatherby vanguard with a 20 inch barrel. what powder would be goo for iy with 100 grain nosler flat base bullets.

First off, welcome to the forum. :)

As for loads, check out Noslers Balisitic room for loads, buy a Nosler manual, check out the various power manufacturer websites.
You are going to get a multitude of powder suggestions and charge weights, of which may or may not work in your specific rifle. For instance, my Rem 243 SPS liked IMR-4064 with the 100gn Nosler solid base, I think the charge was 47gn - I know it happened to be the max listed charge.

The load that I am using in my 243 is 95 grain ballistic tips with 47 grains of IMR 7828, but that is max load also. But I can put 4 bullets into pretty much the same hole at 100 yards. The load is going about 3250 fps.

Welcome to the forum, glad you are here.

Back in my 243 Win days, I loaded 95gr and 100 gr bullets with a MAX load of IMR4350 and had sub MOA accuracy from a M70 XTR.
Remember to start low and work up.

My gun, a browning a-bolt with 10 twist, shoots most of the 100 grain bullets the best with IMR 4350, and RL-22 works well with the 95 ballistic tips.

str8,
Welcome to the forum..... I guess I'd start out by askign how old your kid is? Is this something your trying to use reduced recoil loads and get him familiar with the gun? Or you looking for a good starting point for accuracy ?

he is 11 and shoots it very well. he killed his first deer last year with it. the gun loves 100 gr bullets and he hunts elk with it too. i know its to small for elk but his g-pa bought it for him and g- pa is god in the boys eyes. he can put 4 outta 6 rounds in an 1 1/2 circle at 100 yards.
good enough with factory ammo
