Anyone have a suggested load w/ this one?

I've had suggestions w/ RL19, Ramshot Hunter, and IMR-4350.

I've got an 8 lber of the latter, so I'd LOVE to make that work...

Looking for a balance of accuracy & speed, but the former is always a bigger priority for me than the latter.

Eric,

IMR 4350 was my go to powder in the 243 Win with 95-100 gr bullets.

...suggestions???

...yeah, sell that .243 & buy a QuarterBore. .25-06 likes that IMR-4350...

+1. I had to be convinced, but this has proven to be a great combo.

Smaller is better for my self-image, :) ... and I already have 2 quarterbores... and this rifle is for my 7 & 9 yo boys....

Im shooting the 95 BTip out of my 243 with 34.5gr Varget, Win brass, and CCI200. I am getting about 1" groups. Id like a little better but that was a quick load right before hunting season opened. I did manage to kill an antelope, 6 whitetails, and a coyote and my brother killed a whitetail with this load from 75 yards out to 389 yards. Didnt recover any of the bullets.

Well, for a thrown together load, I guess you did okay... ;) Sounds like you had a great season. Congrats!

I'm going to have to restart the efforts to load for my 243Win Browning BAR. Jumped in a few years ago, but never really went anywhere with it. I suspect IMR or H4350 will work fine for the gas system. That's the scuttlebutt, at least. Lots of spring projects...

my .243 likes 42 gr. of H-4350 with GM210 and the 95gr BT. It will give me just over 1/2 min at 100yds. Lee

My Steyr Mannlicher model L .243W likes:
Cases: Remington 2.035" Neck Sized
Primer: Rem. 9 1/2
Propellant: Vihtavouri N160 x 44.5gns
Bullet: Nosler 95gn Ballistic Tip
OAL - Measured using a comparator guage: 2.490"

This recipe produces 1/8" (or less) MOA at 100 yards in my rifle.
Not so tight when I wobble!
Work up slowly if you try this propellant/recipe
It's been a great load for me for over 15 years. Cheers, ET

I ran IMR7828 out of the 243 with the 95gr BT's. Running RL19 now with the 100 PT. Both work excellent and get a little better than 3000 with both. Those are for my son's 243..

Eric -
Here's another one to chew on: 40 grains of R17 with 210M primers. Supposedly R17 and 4350 have similar burn rates, but there are some differences in the way they burn. This is the first bullet/caliber combo that R17 came out as the best choice when velocity and accuracy are figured in. I tried R19, H414, Varget and R22 in addition to R17 with this combo in a Marlin X7S. This load was right at .5 MOA at 100 yards.

Exactly the reason I looked to this projectile right off the bat for ma boys... gotta admit that 90 gr NAB is a head-scratcher given the unbelievable reports I hear about the 95 gr NBT!

Thanks all! You've given me some great fat to chew on... and I just happen to have a bunch of extra RL-17, -19, & 7828 from previous load development!

I love this development part of a new rifle...

my load for the 95nbt is 41.5 imr 4350 I chron the load @2940 fps.22" barrel. Ive killed several deer
and coyotes with this load and it shoots very good groups,1/2"moa.

I ran 7828 out of mine, but a good gal friend of mine used H4350. Shot very well. I would give the 4350 a good work out and see what you come up with.

If the 95 doesn't shoot... which I seriously doubt... don't shy away from the 90 NBT. I would send the 90 to do any job I'd send the 95 to do. I think the 90 grain NBT is a tough little pill... I've seen it do bad stuff to sizeable critters.
