What is the optimum twist rate for a .243 Winchester and 100 grain bullets? The 1-9" or 1-10"? Thanks!

I shot this group out of a Savage 12. 26" 1:9.25 twist. Seems to shoot just fine. When I broke this barrel in I used some older 105 round nose speers that I had laying around. Just picked a low load of IMR 4350 and shot the first 15 shots under 2". I would think that a 1:10 would be pushing it if it worked.

hope this turns out

If you zoom in on the left target thats a group I shot with my 1/10 twist 243AI. I have some more targets around here I should post.

I like the 10 twist have that in my 243,243AI and both 6RemAI and they seem to handle the 80 to 100gr bullets pretty good. I haven't shot my 6mm much the last few years need to get back shooting them.

Well good luck

30-338,

You have that group framed and hanging on your wall, don't you?

I don't want to sound callous I should post acouple of my BR target 100/200yds groups in the .0's then I'll post one that looks like a shotgun hit the target. Those are the targets that get you back in the real world.

Thanks for the kind words

Makes no never mind, anything less than 0.10 inch is worth bragging about. Such groups don't happen every day, and for many people they are an elusive dream!

1:10 twist is standard on most rifles. I had a M70 XTR that shot bug holes with 70 gr and 100 gr bullets.

Jake,

Awesome shooting! Congratulations.
