I plan on loading up some 100 Hornady SPBT in the .243. From what I am seeing, H4350 with charges of 36-40 (max) look like a good starting point. I have some IMR 4064, IMR 4350 also if that does not work the best. I am wondering, do the Hornady bullets like to be close to the lands or a bit bigger jump?

My go to powder in the 243 Win with heavy bullets was always IMR 4350.
All bullets seemed to shoot best when seated between .015 to .025" off the lands.

100 grain interlocks and 4350 was the go to load for my dad and I in the 243 for years. Primarily hunted whitetails and hogs back then, never had any complaints. Personally I had better luck with the 100 grain hornady than the nosler solid base or remington core lokts of equal weight, had core lokts fail to penetrate and noslers not expand in a couple of instances. Dad swore by the hornady btsp for the 243, still have a box of his reloads just in case maw ever releases his model 70.

another powder worth looking at , if you have it on hand is IMR7828 . I used IMR7828 in my sons 243 with a 100 gr Partition . today I would buy the IMR7827 sc . the long cut 7828 taught me a lot on using compressed loads . I don't think the "sc" powder would be as hard to work with .

I use 139gr spbt interlock in my 7mm-08 . they work well on whitetails . I don't remember using hornady bullets in my sons 243 .

What are your field results with the Hornady Interlock on deer?
Mine have been excellent! 100 gr BTSP and SP in 6mm

My 6mm Remington has very similar ballistics and case capacity and IMR4350 has really been a great powder in several 6mm's. I don't see why H4350 would not work out just as well for you.

Well I use the 100gr Hornady BTSP in my 6mm Rem & it's not a good bullet it's a Great bullet. You can look up on Hornady's web site and my success with it on Mule Deer.

The 100 grain Hornady has worked well for my Sister in her 788 Remington 6mm. I have only seen pass throughs on ribs or one shoulder and ribs. Both shoulders I believe would maybe stop it, depending on how big of a deer.

I have always loaded them at or around 3k or 3050 depending on the powder we had on hand at the time. Good deer bullet is my experience.

er

Here you go. 100 gr Hornady at 3248 fps from a Ruger #1B

For years my goto bullets was the Hornady Spire point interlock.
.243, this was the bullet that made our .243 a good deer cartridge.
7mm Rem. Mag.
And the .300 Win., Longest shot on elk, Largest Whitetail at 350 yards plus. Unknown number of deer over the years with no bullet failure period.
Actually, not one apparent failure with any cartridge.
