I did a little trading the other week and ended up with a cooper model 16 in 243 wssm. I looking to see if anyone is using this caliber or has had experience with it. If so what powder and bullets were you using, and what were the groups like. The factory target shows that they used H 414 and a 65gr v-max, so i will start there. If anyone has any experience with this round please let me know, the rifle will be used for paper punching and some varmints.

One of my friends had one in the winchester model 70 and he loves it. he was getting .549 inch groups at 100 yards with the factory federal ammo.

I'm thinking about getting an upper for my AR-15 in a .243 WSSM. Let me know how it turns out for you.

Had one in a feathetweight and I loved it. Win 760 & H414 ruled. With the 95 bt I got 3250 fps and .7" groups were the norm.

Just a little update, I topped the cooper with a vortex viper 6-20 X 44 target dot scope, and loaded 14 rounds up. 10 rounds were a 65gr v- max over a charge of 46gr of H 414 with a win primer. The other 4 rounds were a 70gr nosler ballistic tip over a charge of 50gr of hodgdon's superformance with a win primer. I used some factory 95gr ballistic tip ammo to get it sighted in, then shot a 5 shot group of the 65gr v-max which was a little under an inch group. The round was pleasant to shoot. I didn't think it was as loud as the 243 win, also I thought recoil was less than the 243 win. Then I fired the four rounds of the 70gr bal. tips there was more recoil with the superformance powder, and the group opened up to about 2 inches. I think I'm going to like this little round, one thing to mention though I opened a brand new bag of winchester brass and out of 50 pieces there were 4 that were marked as 25 wssm. I measured the dimensions and they are 243 wssm just mis marked.

I had a Browning A-Bolt Composite Stalker in .243 WSSM. When I traded it away, I kept all the brass and cartridges that I'd loaded. If you're interested I still have the following and would be willing to sell or trade them:

77 pieces un-fired brass
42 loaded 70 grain Sierra Blitz Kings
15 loaded 100 grain Nosler Solid Base
23 loaded 100 grain Nosler Partitions
39 loaded 100 grain Sierra Game Kings
15 loaded 100 grain Speer Grand Slams
7 loaded 100 grain Hornady Interlocks
