I have a new to me Ruger .243. It is a Ruger KM77RP MKII I bought used. I have replaced the boat paddle factory stock with a new style Ruger Synthetic Stock. I have also shortened the barrel to 19 1/4". When I bought this Rifle I had a couple hundred rounds of once fired Federal Brass and wanted to stick with Federal Brass and wanted more of it but couldn't find any in stock anywhere.

At any rate I bought Federal Premium V Shok 70gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip Ammo. I have had great results with this ammo in previous .243's on Varmints & Coyotes. After a lot of trial and error I am now extremely pleased with the accuracy I am getting. Wednesday I shot 3 - 3 shot groups from the bench at 100 yards. Those groups measured .401", .461" & .502" for an average of .455".

I am about to start working up a handload with the 70gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips. I use H-4895 for all of my .223 handloads and to simplify things would like to be able to use H-4895 for the 70gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips in the .243 also. Does anyone load 70gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips with H-4895? If so what are your results? I am not necessarily looking for maximum velocity but more interested in accuracy.

Secondly I always used to use (in my other .243's) 95gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips loaded with a healthy charge of H-4350. Accuracy, Velocity and On Game Bullet performance was great. My first inclination is to test out this load in my new to me .243, but am wondering if I would be missing out if I didn't try the new 90gr. Nosler E-Tips?

Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Larry

The BT's would really zap the varmits, and the 90gr E-tip would provide a nice deer/antelope capability. I'd try the e-tips. I'm sure the .243 shooters would like to see your results!
