I need help with a powder for this combo. Any powder that usually works. Have been thinking of trying something in the Ramshot line this time just not sure.
Thanks Alan

IMR 4895 with 39.0-39.5 grs is the powder to use with a 70 gr BT in your 243 Win. This was the "club load", several used it and everyone shot well under MOA.

Let us know how this load works for you.

I've had pretty good luck over the years using 47gr/IMR-4350 and that is a max load with 68/70gr bullets. I've been shooting IMR-4007ssc in a 243AI going to try that powder in the 243 later this springs should be a good powder also.

I haven't tried any of the Ramshot powders. Well good luck

Thanks guy's JD338 IMR 4895 is a good old stand by the load sounds good, 30-338 I've been using H4350 in some other rifles may try working a load up with it have to find a starting load .the Ramshot I may try is Big Game has a burn rate right around RL15.

Thanks for now Alan

Alan, my old Hodgdon # 26 manual has 44gr to 47gr/H-4350 with 70gr bullets and that about what the Nornady # 7 has for loading data with their 70gr bullets. Well good luck

My Ruger Tang Safety M77 shoots very accurately with 41 grains of IMR 4064 with the 70 grain BTs. I get a chronographed muzzle velocity of 3256 fps.

I don't remember the exact load now but when I used to shoot a 243 Win for groundhogs I started out with the Nosler SB 75 gr and IMR 4350 and then Nosler dropped the SB and came out with the 70 gr Ballistic Tip and IMR 4350 was still the powder that really shot in my Rem 700 varmint. Those 70 BT's would turn a groundhog inside out.

4350 seems to be be coming out on top I think I'll try it in the H type and give some RS Big Game a try to as soon as the weather warms a bit. Loading for my eldest son he picked up this 243 in a Rem. 700 VTR it seems to like Win. factory 80s & 100s so hoping the 70s will be a good fit.The Rem has a fast twist so not sure lighter will work we,ll try these first.

Thanks All Alan.

Pacer if 4350 and 4895 don't work for ya you might wanna try IMR 3031 it shoots good in my old remmy 700 with 70 gran bt's... :)

Many three shot cloverleaf groups with 41.5 grains Varget. This was my primary coyote round here in Central Oregon. Responsible for the demise of over 100 coyotes since 2000. Buy a Cougar tag every year hoping to see one - no luck - so far, this should be potent medicine for a big cat.

My data for 243Win. varies, depending on for which rifle I was loading.

Custom Mauser w/29" FN Supreme bull barrel: 70gr. BT bullet w/OAL of 2.631" 39gr. IMR4064. Win cases. Win std. primers.
Close seconds : 43gr. IMR4350 and 35gr. IMR3031

Ruger M77 bought in 1969: Std. hunting barrel. same bullet, case, primer. Best groups used 39gr. WC852f (used H380 data)

Wife's H&R Handi-Rifle with same bullet, case, primer, likes 43gr. IMR4350

Seems like every one is getting guns out a ready for them there varmints Now I'm looking had at H414 (W760) it will or look like it will work in the 300WSM and 300RSAUM just in case the 243 doesn't. Many using the good old H414.

Thanks Alan. PS> if this 243 thing works out I'll have to get one .
