Well I have my bullets, brass, primers, powder, and dies. What would you load up?

87gr Sierra's, 75gr Vmax, 115gr PT

H4350 and RL19

Win brass

CCI primers and Win LR

I was thinking about starting out with the 87 grain bullets to get a feel for the rifle and to get the scope close to zero before starting with the 115 PT.

What would you load with the 87 grainers?

I never load lighter than 100 gr. for the 25-06. For anything over 100 gr bullets RL 22 or RL 25.

52gn of RL-19 with a 117gn Hornady spire point has been very good. So has 53.5gn of H-4831 with the 115gn Ballistic Tip from the 25-06 with 26" barrel. I don't know what the chrony readings were, but both shot under 1/2" at 100yds. Pic below of the BTs shot group.

If you are not an RL powder fan, try IMR 7828 SSC. I got good accuracy and velocity fro 55.0 grains with mag primer.

Never have loaded anything below a 100 gr bullet for the .25-06 cartridge. The 100 is a good multi-purpose varmint, coyote & deer bullet. Typically with a 100 gr bullet, I'll see around 3340 fps via H4350.

Also found out that 115 Bergers and 115 Nosler Ballistic Tips kill coyotes real well. I usually load them to about 3100 - 3200 fps which is more than enough. I think you'll be pleased with the 115 Partitions once you get going with them. Particularly for deer...

In your shoes, since you've got them, sure, I'd use those 87's for a general "get to know the rifle" load.

Curious - do you have a lot of varmint & coyote hunting avail to you? Perfect use for those light bullets. They can be driven very fast!

Regards, Guy

As far as coyote hunting, I could hunt every night in the winter and try new land most of the time. I do not have the time or money to hunt them as much as I would like. I bought the lighter bullets for range use and if I get a shot at a yote, I will use them.

With my powder options I am thinking about trying

RL19 56/56.5/57/57.5 grains

H4350 53.5/54/54.5/55 grains

Any thoughts or am I on track with these? I also read online that using a mag primer might help. I know it is online info but is there any reson to not try them?

I'm kind of with the others in that all I have loaded for my wife's 25-06 has been over 100 grs., in in fact the 120 Partition is all I have really used. I started playing with some 110 gr. Accubonds, but never finished working up a load for them yet. The 120's just work so well I figure why mess with perfection. I think the 115 gr. Partitions should be very promising for you and H4350 should be great. I use IMR4350 for her load.

Well, you wouldnt have to "overstoke the 'ole 25-06. I confess, born and raised in SD, and calling in a coyote is still on my "bucket list" :( . That said my 250 savage is all set up with some Hornady 75 Gr V-max's. Ive had good luck with the 85 Gr CT's as well. They might make a nice light bullet for your 25-06. Like I said there is somthing toi be said for a light recoiling load to shoot and practice with. CL

I used a mag primer with the 120 Partition in the .25-06. I was shooting 55 grains of IMR 7828 and it lit better with the mag primer.

I've never used a Mag primer in the 25/06, but I use the Rem 9 1/2 which is on hotter end of standard large rifle primers anyway. RL22 is a go to powder for the 115 BTs, although a slightly faster powder works better for the lighter bullets. I use AA3100 for the lighter bullets and it works well for the 110 AB. I have played with RL19 but it didn't do quite as well as AA3100. I have several 25/06s and while RL22 has been the most accurate in my primary rifle, AA3100 has been accurate in all of them

The winchester is the hottest of all caps out there. Magnum and standard. The CCI's are the coldest. Rem is in the middle.

My 25-06's all get 215 match mags

H4350 may be the best powder for the 87 grain bullet. I had good luck with IMR 4350 with the 85 BT Varmit Nosler in the .25-06, fast and accurate. I get 3395 fps in my .257 Roberts with IMR 4064 and the 85 BT Varmit.

My super accurate loads for the 25-06 as for the powder charge came right out of the Sierra 4th edition manual as the suggested accuracy load. With the 87 gr Sierra Sptizer 52.2 grs IMR 4350 I use Rem cases and CCI BR2 primers. This will vaporize a groundhog. For deer I use the 117 Sierra Pro Hunter and the accuracy load from the 4th ed Sierra manual. 49.0 grs IMR 4350 with Rem cases and CCI250 Mag primers. I get 3000 fps from my 26" barrel and over 90% of the time it drops a deer in it's tracks out to a little over 500 yards. Both loads shoot bug holes at 100 and under 1 1/2" at 300 yards. The 115 Nosler Partition is a great bullet for big game and shoots well with the 49 gr IMR 4350 load but is not as accurate in my rifle as the 117 Sierra Pro Hunter.

Great info, I wanna load up some lighter bullets in the wifes rifle, might try 85 BT's but I just might use the RL22 and 100 BT load that has been working for a few. Seems like a screamer..

Well I loaded up some rounds tonight. I used the 87gr Sierra's with H4350 and RL-19.

I went 2.715" on the ogive which puts me at .02" off the lands and I am able to put them in the mag of the rifle.

I used 54.0/54.5/55.0 of H4350 and 57.0/57.5/58.0 or RL-19

I used Win brass and Win LR primers.

I hope they do group okay so I have a starting point. I understand that many use one load for but I would like to get two loads for this rifle. My goal is to get a target/yote round and a deer round. I would love to have my wife shoot the rilfe with the light loads and maybe, just maybe she will rifle hunt with me and use the deer loads out of this rifle.

Thanks for the help guys I would be lost without all the help, but I would have more money.

Looking forward to your results WT.. I imagine you should see something good with those loads.

Hey Teach, I know you wanted those two powders, but want to tell you I had really easy load development and success with H414, between 51.0 and 52.3 grs and 87 grain Bergers.
