25 Sherman

I wanted to show off a little on this rifle, its my fun speedster.

normally use 110-115 gr bullets, but I wanted to play a little with some 100gr BT’s.
never found pressure, but its got to be getting close. Maybe another 50-75 fps.
If we get a good conditions day I’m going to stretch it out a little, maybe do some 300yd load work.
Fun to 500!

So what cartridge is your 25 Sherman based off of? I see your case says 280ai but when I looked up 25 Sherman it shows the 25 SST or Sherman Short Tac.

It's a 280/270 case blown out to have a 40 shoulder, but wider and pushed forward a tad.

The one in question is a 280 AI parent case, but the shoulder pushed even further forward and widened a tad at the shoulder line. You can also use a 270 win case.

Then there is a 25 Sherman Short, which is a SAUM case shortened and the shoulder straightened to 30° (and not an official Sherman wildcat).
Then there's also a 25 Sherman Short Tactical, which is the SS case blown out with a steeper shoulder.

That's an impressive cartridge, not to far off of the 257 Weatherby in performance. The speed and accuracy sure are there @phil.

This photo is a necked down 280AI, loaded, then the case after fire forming.
Capacity with Peterson brass is slightly over 71grs water.

25 sherman Long Action
25 SST-Sherman Short Tactical 30*
7mm SS-Sherman Short
6.5mm Sherman Max

the Long Action, SS and Max use 40* shoulders

Hope this gives some clarity.

This is a 1-9” Shilen #5 finished at 27.5
It’s a reamed 25/06 AI chamber.

It’s been a lot of fun so far. The Peterson brass has proven to be tough and consistent for me.
I need to throat it just a tad longer for the 115BT, but it’s perfect for the 100gr.
Maybe one day I’ll have a 120-125 gr nosler with a poly tip to try!

I hear you! It is good to see some 25's coming along that are pretty heavy lately. Nosler needs to get on the stick and get an ABLR out around 130 grains or so.

I’m not sure about differences between it and the Gibbs.
Rich normally preserves neck length more so than the Gibbs cases I’ve seen in the past, though.
