Does anyone have a good load for a 250 Savage with a 100gr. Partition? I have a Ruger M77 UL with a 20" barrel, so far I have not come up with a good combination that will meet my requirments. This little gun will shoot 1" groups with other loads. I am about to give up on the Partition load, if any one out there has any loads I would appreciate it.

HAPPY DAY!!! Some body else shoots the 250-Sav. !!!! I ENVY You your Ruger!! I have a built FN Mauser with a barrel of unknown origin. shoots very well. Years ago I passed on a 77 RSI w/ a k4 Weaver for 200 bucks. (thought the kid needed diapers more than I needed the rifle?!?) Three days later When I had rationalized it and borrowed the money the rifle was gone. I picked up the Mauser years later cause it was cheap. But to the point, I have loaded some partitions but have not had a chance to shoot them. 40 grains of 4350. I have used 40 Grains of 4350 under a balistic tip that gives me pretty consistent 1" groups. Less if I work really hard at it. I found an old box of 90 Gr X-bullets and they shoot just as well and should be a little faster but I dont have a Chrono so I'm not sure. My best group (although it may have been a fluke) came using 38 Grains of IMR under a 100 grain BT, perfect clover leaf. I cant get 4895 to shoot worth a darn. 40 grains of 4350 under a 75 Gr v-max will put three shots into half an inch or less all day long. I want to try H380 some day as that gives a little more velocity and is listed as most accurate load in a couple mannuals, including nosler . H414 looks interesting too. Lots of velocity according to the books. I have a 22 inch barrel with a 1:10 twist. Let me know what works for you. the 250 is too good a round to let die. I wish Savage would chamber a riflle for it. Heck I wish any body would chamber a new rifle for it. I deserves some modern barrel work and a good trigger. Best of luck. I posted here about loads for this caliber a while back and I think some body mentiond RL powders. Try the reloaders Nest website they list a lot of loads too. CL
