I tried puting in a word for the .257 Bob but was ignored. I guess this younger generation thinks that the .260 has more s*x appeal which just shows that they have not handloaded for a Bob.

You weren't ignored, I have had a 257 Bob on my list of rifles I'll get one day.
I really want to do an ultralight rifle in the bob.
Now a 6.5mm has a lot better BC than the 25 cal bullets and I'm working on becoming a long range shooter so the 6.5 Creedmoor fits my criteria better.

Stop it, Stop it, Stop it. No more talk of custom 6.5's on winchester 70 actions I won't be able to take it anymore. I have a 260 remington in a 700 LSS but after seeing JD's results and now having 3 winchester 70's myself(2 fn .270 win and 300 win and 1 classic in 458 wm).

I am dying to sell my Remington 700 260 and build a 6.5 Remington Magnum on a new FN winchester 70 action with a 24" barrel. I think that would be the cat's pajamas.

My new slogan: "No matter how much money you put into that Remington it will never be a Winchester"

Mountain Rifle LSS with the brown laminate stock. It had the dreaded J lock but I had that changed out to the standard bolt shroud and added the tubbs firing pin and spring.

I'll stick with you Old Trader, I think both the 6mm and the 257 have gotten the short shaft and are soooo much better than folks give them credit for! I'd be Bob looney if I already wasn't 6 Remmy looney!

I would take an M70 257 Roberts in a heart beat. Either that or the 25-06 are on my short list. Love those Mauser cases. Heck I think the 257AI is a true sweetheart as well. I know a few folks who like the heck outta theirs. Scotty

Gimme a yell when you decide to get rid of it. I may be interested.

That would be a fine rifle to own. I like the cartridge and apparently I like the rifle.

That 6.5RM with on a Winchester would be something awesome! Plenty of mag length to stretch them out some.

I love that saying... about Remmy's vs Winchesters that is! Scotty

...while I sure wouldn't mind having a 6.5RM, I think I'd have a pretty hard time convincing myself that building one w/ the odd bolt face & availability (or extreme lack of) brass would be worth the small amount of case capacity over the 6.5X284 or the much easier conversion of a 6.5 WSM/ 6.5X300 WSM...

That 264WSM looks like a barn burner to me! I know it would make one fantastic hunting round. Plus, it has so much capacity for those 264 sized bullets, you can just really crank them out. Scotty
