257 Bee---Loads

I have tons of them but would like to know what is working for your 257 Bee.

Please list accuracy and if you know your velocity.

I have lots of data but most with Swift or Barnes bullets. It did quite well in Africa in 2017 and I have taken pronghorn with it. All my data is with hunting bullets. I have data with a Vanguard and now with a MKV. Sorry not a bunch of data with Nosler bullets in the 257W. I do have good data with Nosler's in 257R and 25-06.

In the 257W I found a large difference between Hornady(fastest), Weatherby(middle) and Nosler(slowest) brass with the same load. All would group well but not so if you shot mixed brass strings. This fact mage it possible for me to take both 120gr A-Frame and 100gr TTSX loads(max) that shot to the same point by using different brass for each.

Weatherby factory loads ( or did ) three different Nosler bullets for the 257. I never found a reason to go elsewhere. There loads are all listed on their factory ammo website, but telling you this is like carry coals to Newcastle, as I know, you are already aware of this

I have loads for the following so if interested in any of them let me know. 120gr A-Frames and 100gr TTSX with Hornady, Weatherby and Nosler brass/ 80gr TTSX/a single load with 115gr Partition/ 100gr Scirocco/ 100gr A-Frame

I've tried to replicate the accuracy of factory loads in my 257 ULW, as did the previous owner, with no luck so far.

I will next try RL-26, and will crimp it, as I can't think of any other powder or steps to use with the NAB or NBT that the rifle loves.

It's just so painful to pay $80/box.

I have owned 3 mark V 257 wbys. since the 1970's, but I will cover the last one which was a Big game master with the hand lapped barrel. It was not a great shooter but would group under 1in. with the factory 115 BT. This load went 3500fps from my rifle not 3400fps as advertised. I duplicated this load with 71g of Imr 7828 and F 215 primer. I took 3 antelope, five deer, and 1 black bear with load with great bullet performance. Another load was 110g acc with 72g Imr 7828 at 3550 fps. I took 3 very big bodied mature muly bucks with this load, one at less than 10 feet, bullet hit at base of neck going through the front of shoulders and exited. I hope this was helpful and you know to start lower and work up.

I don't have the velocity but in my Vanguard Sub-MOA I shoot 71.5 gr Retumbo with the 120gr Speer. It shoots very well, I'll chrono it after some of this snow melts. Dunno why I don't have that data.

I load the same as divernhunter w the 100 TTSX although mine was around 3410 or so. 71 gr RL22. Weatherby brass. Deer didn't like it. :grin:

Rem 700 SPS stainless, 26" barrel. Tubbs final finish fire lap bullets. Cleans up nicely for high velocity round.

R22 69.5 grs 110 AB..... 3425 fps. 3/4 MOA
R22 67.0 grs 115 BT..... 3350 fps. 7/8 MOA

115 shoots 1/4-1/2 " right of 110AB and about a 1/2"
lower. Both seated long; 3.430 OAL. Didn't have luck seating at saami length or any where near there.
