.257 E-Tip?

The question came up on a Weatherby discussion board regarding whether or not Nosler would be bringing around a .257cal E-Tip. I volunteered to post the question here. I'm going to add my thoughts, as well.

I believe this offers and opportunity for Nosler and Weatherby to collaborate (since Weatherby already has Nosler bullets loaded in much of their ammunition) on a project that would be great for all parties involved. Consider that Weatherby is smack in the middle of Kalifornia, where lead is soon to be dead. Nosler has what is certainly the most barrel friendly lead free bullet on the market, if not arguably the best overall. Weatherby has the premier .257cal cartridge, and it is gaining in popularity pretty rapidly. The collaboration goes something like this - Nosler and Weatherby get together, work out the weight (something in the 100-110gr range will likely be the best choice) and create what could be the ultimate high-velocity .257cal deer bullet of all time, and look like heroes to our brethren in Kali at the same time. Sounds like a win-win to me. What do you say, Nosler? Already working on the .257, or want to start?

I don't have any investment in Weatherbys but a 100-115 gr E-Tip for my "Bob" would be interesting. Bring it on.

I'm feeling a 90-95 grain e-tip for the 257 wby. This nosler bullet seems to be longer and I feel the 90-95 grain would bring out the full potential of the 257 wby mag.

Not much response to this thread. I believe us quarter bore guys are all but forgotten about. Barnes forgot about us with the tipped tsx and I believe Nosler will forget about us or just put us on the back burner. What's bad is we're the guys with the velocity that really need a quality bullet with a great ballistic coefficient, especially us weatherby guys.........

I'll try to get an answer from Nosler as to the possibility of a 257 cal E-Tip.

Agree, to a point...something closer to 110-115 gr. would be my choice. I understand that the E-tip is longer than "normal" bullets. However, my 257 Roberts isn't used as a varmint gun...

We have to get nosler and savage to go in on a colaborative effort to to build a 25WSM or better yet a 250 savaage "classic". Perfect home for a 100 gr E-tip. :) CL

"you had to know I would come up w/ it eventually"

At this point, I don't know of any plans to make a 25cal E-Tip but I'm sure it'll be coming. I'll pass this post along to the people who need to see it.

Cool. I think a 100 gr E-Tip would be great from my .25-06 at about 3300 - 3400 fps!

I've taken a couple of mulies with the 100 gr TSX from that rifle, with excellent results. The E-tip would likely be even better!

I think a 100gr. would be the ticket because a 115gr. lead free bullet would probably be too long to stabilize. We'll definitely put that on the wish list for 2009 though. Thanks for sparking this one up guys!

Thanks for the update Nosler4.
A 100 gr E-Tip would turn my 257 Roberts into a penetrating powerhouse.
