Hi Folks,

does any of you have experience on the above comparison ?
How does the 129 AB LR stands against the 120 Ballistic Tip, both in Accuracy and terminal effects on game ?
Is it tougher or softer ?

I have been shooting BT120 in my 6,5x57R Mauser for several years with excellent results, but (as a Reloader) I'd like to try the AB Long Range sometime...

Tried the AccuBond (standard) a few times.
Not as accurate as the BT and too tough on game, for my liking and in my set-up (not a super fast caliber that is...).

Really interested in hearing from you Guys...

Thanks a bunch for your help.

I did some work with the 129 gr ABLR and shot a few deer with them, they are a bit soft but work fine. That is the trade off to expand far out being soft closer up, I did get good penetration on the deer however which were shot at close range.

Haven't shot any game with the 120 gr Ballistic Tip but my impression of it is it may be a bit tougher but at the same time it can lose it's core on occasion. It shoots great in my wife's 6.5x55 so we hope to shoot some deer with them and see how they do.

The standard NBTs seem a fairly tough bullet at non magnum impact speeds ie 2900 and below. Use on numbers of pigs and goats and wet newspaper tests have shown them tough enough for me.

I've never seen the need to go to ABs as a result but I don't shoot over-bore magnums often.

Thanks (y)

I will stick to the original BT120, hoping to be able to still find them, as they seem on a trail of extintion over here lately..... :?

Not with the 129 but with the 120 at 3400 fps I shot truckloads of antelope. Works great

I used the 120 NBT at 3200 for several exotics and antelope, nothing over 310yds but a couple were around 90yds, excellent bullet. This was in a 6.5/284. I read somewhere that Chub Eastman uses a 6.5/280 Rem Ackley Improved with the 120NBT even on moose!
