Does any one have any first hand data for Retumbo and 140 accubonds. Hodgdon shows 63.5 as max and that is all I have found.

I have used Retumbo and a 140gr AB. In my 264 I did not get to before the bolt got sticky. Pressure spikes up fast. I didn't get to the MAX Hodgdon Retumbo load with 120 gr bullets either

Good information, thanks. What kind of speed were you seeing with the 140s? I loaded some 140s today and started at 61 grains, maybe I should back down a little more.

I didn't crono the load. In my rifle I would call of Retumbo the MAX load with a 140gr AB.

I just came back from shooting my rifle to find max charge with 140 accubonds and Retumbo and I got up to 69 grains. At 69 my fed primers started to flatten with slight a crater. No stiff bolt lift.

Answered your pm before I read this Bill, sounds like you have things well underway. Were you able to chronograph the load? When I chronographed the 63,5 gr load with Partitions they clocked 3070 fps from a 24" barrel would be interesting to see what yours ended up clocking.

I believe my 70 takes about the same as yours with similar signs around 69 grains. The 264 cases seemed to vary a lot. I had two lots of Nosler cases and those really gave me fits. I developed a load one weekend with the 130 AB with around 70 grains of Retumbo. Went home, duplicated the load and locked up the rifle the following weekend, and dropped the primer. Sent me through the roof.

Mikes words still echo, back down when changing anything even when changing to a different lot.

After reading the above post. I changed the BRAND of brass I was using. No sign of pressure of Retumbo and 140 gr AB.
