.264 win mag

Oh man! I was waiting for someone to ask! HA! This is really a slick cartridge and I messed around with Retumbo for a bit with 130 AB's. Accuracy and speed were excellent, but it wasn't consistent. Bedded the rifle and it still wasn't as consistent as I would have liked, then, on a whim, I tried some RL25, on the accounts of Fotis and shazam, it fell into place for me.

This is still my best group yet, shot at 300 yards with Brian.

Here are my 100 yard groups, 67.6 grains of RL25, 140 Ballistic Tip, Nosler Cases and CCI250 primer. Sorry, I don't have the COAL, but I imagine your rifles will be different than mine anyhow. Speed runs right at 3180 or so.

140 AB, same load as above, but runs about 20 FPS faster, same OAL though.

I am loving how easy it is to shoot this rifle, and how well it just hammers them in there. Awesome rig out to 600, or probably better but that is as far as I have been able to get it out.

Good luck with it, Mine is a Model 70 Sporter with a 26" tube and that is probably a near max or maybe slightly over max charge in some rifles, but I have done well with cases and haven't lost a single case since I have switched to RL25. Need to get it back out soon and give it a workout. Been awhile since I really shot it.

Them .264s are plumb nasty  !

I think you guys are just trying to push my buttons. I may yet have to break down and buy a 264 WM! Great cartridge.

You aren't kidding Jim. It was awesome to see Winchester chambering them again. It is truly an awesome performer that throws dirt in the 25-06's face with just about the same recoil.

It is a screamer!

125 NPT at 3350 fps with RL25. Winchester Super grade! 501 yards.

FOTIS.... FOTIS .... FOTIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have the ".264 setup".

Very nice, my friend!

Had the 264 set up.

With a 270 Bee I did not see the need for a 264. Best looking SG EVER!!!

In my gun Retumbo was the best, it did well with the 130 gr Swift Scirocco, 130 gr AccuBond, 140 gr AccuBond and 140 gr Partition. My go to load is the 130 gr Scirocco, one of the very best for the 264 WM IMO.

All these post make me want to upgrade my little 6.5mm Rem Mag to a 264 Win Mag.

FWIW, I would have bought a 700 Sendero in 264 Win Mag a few years ago from a forum member here but he sold be before I knew it was for sale.

Of course, that 6.5 RM is another very cool cartridge. Chambered in the 673, it looks pretty slick, Jim.

scotty, I think we have the same gun,

thanks guys I've been shooting the 140 accubonds. just cant seem to get her to tighten up at all. been through several recipes and seating depths and as many different kinds of primers as I could. ive just never known a riffle not to like the accubonds.

im stumped. I have another pre 64 win that has been shot a ton and it will group them 1 inch or better pretty consistently.

This is mine.

I will look up my load tonight and pass you my OAL length's as well.

Have you tried the 140 BT in it yet? Just wondering, as it might be worth trying to get those to shoot first and then switching up when you have a solid load. I might have gotten lucky, but my rifle prints them to the same POI to 300 yards. I did the majority of work with the 140 BT's and then decided to try the 140 AB's and I got lucky probably, but they both work, with the same load. Wished it happened more often.

I bought like 20 boxes of the 140 b tips when they where on the pro shop last year. I love to plink with them .

I would love the load info.

rifles are the same for sure, except mine has a Schmitt and bender scope on it.
