Well, I think I am just about done with the 264WM. I have two excellent loads (at least to me). The first load Retumbo, Nosler Brass, and CCI250's with the 140gr PT at 3200. Shoots really well and that bullet is incredible. Just for reference, shooting alongside a 300RUM on some 300 yard steel, the 264WM with the PT would punch through 1/2" steel. The RUM made bigger holes and the 7WSM with 160gr AB's at 3130 woould make big craters and just about punch through, but not quite. Anyhow, here is a pic of the 140's.

Just wanted to add a recovered PT from another range day to show you just how much of a great bullet this is.

I also made up another load of 130gr AB's, Retumbo, Nosler Brass and CCI250's. Those run into the 3350 range and are also just as accurate, but me being the nut behind the trigger makes the groups larger than they should be.

I was also able to run the 130gr AB in water jugs at 20 yards. Lets just say it was very exciting. Here are some pictures of the recovered bullet.

And a video of the 264WM getting shot into the jugs.

I can't say enough what bedding did for this rifle. It has really settled it down and made it very consistent across the board. Having two solid performing loads really gives me a good feeling about the rifle. I will say this, the PT was very easy to load, and it really shot well right from the start. I have some 140gr AB's to monkey with as well, but I doubt I will get to them this year, at least right now. Scotty

Looks really good, buddy! That Partition load should do just about anything you need it to, including whacking an elk. I'd be curious what the trajectory difference would be between the PT load and the AB load. Anybody got a ballistics program?

Well, I guess you could say that this particular loads "makes a splash!" Good stuff, Scotty. Looks as if you have your load for this Fall.

Looks like you are ready especially with that 140 gr load, good shooting.

Scotty,

Those loads and recovered bullets are outstanding! No doubt, your 264 Win Mag is rockin'.
Nicely done buddy.

Looks like you guys had a fun day checking penetration!! You know I had to go through all the videos once I got to youtube 8) .

Scotty,
Good shooting buddy, the groups look terrific especially that Partition load. Animals you hunt this fall don't stand a chance. Now onto the Whelen.

Don

Very nice shooting my friend. The 264 will be my next purchase.

The Whelen is done. After I shot this target with the 250gr PT's at a little over 2600, I decided to quit monkeying with it, I didn't want that Remington to turn around and bit me back!

Bill, I really enjoy the 264. Now that I have learned a little more about it and such, it is really an easy cartridge to make shoot. If you were going to build a rifle though, the 264WSM would be my pick in a M70. Those long mags really allow some room for powder. Scotty

I'm not sure how guys post text output like from Quickload (advice welcome). Here are a couple of jpegs from Sierra's program output for Scotty's loads: You can click on them and they'll expand.

EE, they look pretty darned similar to me. A few inches difference at 500 is all I can make out. Scotty

Scotty,
I can see your Whelen is ready for sure. Good shooting buddy.

Thank you Don. How is your Whelen coming along? Scotty

Scotty,
Haven't shot the whelen for a while, but plan on it soon. Been focusing on the 30-06. Have the load developed. Loaded more up, just need to get to the range. Hoping it will cool off some. Don't like shooting in high 90's temperature to much.

Got my 300 RUM back from getting bedded, pillars and a trigger job, really wanting to see what it will do now as well.

Man, I bet the 300RUM is going to be very impressive with that work done. I know every rifle that has gone through that treatment. Looking forward to hearing about your RUM and Whelen shooting. I imagine your Whelen is going to impress you. Scotty

Scotty,
I'm shooting the 225 AB in the Whelen, it will put 3-in a nickle if I do my part. Got to get some loaded up soon.

Man, that 225 AB seems like a great one Don. I may try some of them in the future just to see what they shoot like out of my Whelen. Hoping to catch them as 2nds one of these times. They go quick. Scotty
