270 bullets?

Any kill details on this bullet? I am wanting to vaporize Yotes in the high wind days. Do they open up enough? Thanks.

Check out the bullet test section. They really open up and fragment and hold a small base at the very end.

It is difficult to imagine many people deliberately loading premium bullets such as 150 grain ABLR bullets to shoot coyotes.

I don't know. Look at what people spend shooting paper. Not a lot of protein there.
Look how people kill each other over such things like tennis shoes. Hair weaves. religions.
The human brain doesn't always act rational.
I know people that would die to have the hunting privileges I have to hunt other peoples property by only hunting coyotes, right in my backyard. No outrageous hunting tags to buy. No outfitter involved. No game wardens hassling you. And everyone is glad your their. I don't get asked to marry any of the landowner's daughters much anymore, but I'll take it. :) Yotes are tough. I had one take a 88 berger varmint straight in the chest as he was trotting at me @ 35 yards. After a minute, I went up to him. He was still breathing! Now thats tough. And they are a tough target.
The more and more wolves's ranges expand, the more and more predator control will be in demand. If you were an outfitter and was having your elk & mule deer herds being decimated right before your very eyes, you would want those critters gone at a reasonable price. Enter the predator hunter. It's the future, here and now. At least thats my train of thought anyway.

Mike, at this bullet weight[150grs from a 270?] would these not just whistle straight thru any coyote at about any angle ? Cant imagine the LR AB would be much of a coyote bullet , but I could be wrong. ???? I was thinking more along the lines of a 400/500 yard; deer bullet ?????

They come 100 bullets to the box right now. That makes them reasonably affordable, just as the Ballistic tips once were until they went to 50 bullets a box. :x I wonder if they get popular enough that they will go to 50 bullets to a box again?

Got a notice yesterday from SPS with title , new lower prices..................... so took a quick look and they actually have NOTHING for .257 and very limited for .277................ I don't know what is happening but have really just about decided to move on...................... I have purchased close to $500 worth of bullets since the 1st of the year, and none of them have an N on the boxes...................... 20 years ago ALL my bullets were Noslers.

I have experimented a little bit with the 150gr. ABLRs with my son's 270win in the BDL using 3 different powders.
I could not get a decent group with any of them after about a month, I gave up :( and went back to the 130gr. ABs.
The 3 powders I used were IMR4350, IMR7828ssc & RL22.

Blessings,
Dan

Dan,
Sounds like the same sorta thing that happened to Scotty...................

I have been loading the Hornady 140 grain Boat tail in the Weatherby for a few years, and it just plain works. I have no problems with it on elk at 400+ yards. They fall over real fast. I load the 150 partitions as well, but really can't see any difference in performance. With either they are dead.I am one of the old fellows that has learned that if it works, don't fix it.

I am going to be shooting a bunch of SSTs this summer just practicing , at half price of Nosler BTs, I am just not going to use them anymore until they drop the prices ! I have great luck with SSTs on DEER, sized game out to 300yds I just don't see much difference between the SST and the BTs, However the SST bullets, Would not be my first choice on Elk or Moose ,[neither would the BTs, I am thinking 160 Partitions for game over 500lbs] But the SSTs have always worked great on deer out to 300yds, never shot one much further than that, with an SST; So cant really say, how they would perform at 400 plus yards??? Used to use the Nosler Solid Base for years in Alaska for Caribou, and found it worked great at 400yds for them, but that is not a Moose!
