Considering picking up a Tikka 695 in 270 Win and having it rebored to 35 cal to make a 35 Whelen.

JES rifles is not too far away a d I have heard very good things about his work

Except for rehiring, anything else to consider?

I'd rebarrel it myself. That's my opinion.

+1 The cost for a premium barrel is really not prohibitive in this instance.

JES has done a couple for some friends of mine- he does great work. IIRC about $250 to punch one out.

Not sure what a rebarrel will run you, but up here it's a fair bit more than that.

hodgeman - JES is who please ? - i have a 308 Rem barrel i would like rebored to 338 cal - Thks for info! RJ

Soon to have another member in the 35 Whelen family. It is a matter of time before everyone sees the benefits of this great calibre . Now if it is left handed it would make it just a little sweeter .

Blessings,
Dan
