You better add another 300 ft/sec before "nipping" the Weatherby anywhere.

With the 28" barrel it is very easy to get 3300 fps with a 130 grain bullet but accuracy suffers. The trigger on mine - the Browning version of the 1885 - is very good.

I just noticed you are from Denmark. You may recognize another very accurate rifle I own. 8)

WOW! very nice 7x61. That one looks like it has been hunted a little!

Howdy Friends,
I just saw the post about the 7x61 S&H! There aren't a whole lot of 'em floating around out there, so it's nice to see one every now and then. The first custom rifle I ever saw was my uncle's 7x61 S&H built on an FN Mauser action with a #6 contour Douglas 26" barrel. He had to explain to me what a wildcat cartridge was too. It was built by Roy Bedeaux Sr. in Albuquerque sometime before 1962. My uncle did the stock himself. He'd let me carry it when I'd tag along with him for elk, and it was every bit of 10+ pounds, but I didn't seem to mind because it was nice just carrying a rifle in hand vice a walking stick. I guess this is why I don't mind carrying a medium weight rifle.

I also shoot a Browning 1885 in 270. Mine like 130 Accubonds. 61 gr of N560 transformed the rifle into a genuine ragged holer (3 shots) @ 3280fps. Great rifle!

Nathan, Long time no see/ no hear.... hope you're doing well. Do you see Ross occasionally?

I've used IMR4831 with 130 bullets (various) in 270 Win for years and 58 grains seems to shoot well in about every 270 I've tried. Typically gets 3050-3100 fps in 22 inch barreled guns so you should do better than that. Accuracy on OTC sporter guns ususally under MOA.

Good Luck.

IMR-4831 has been an allstar performer for me as well. Also get close to 3100 with 58 grains in my rifles.
