My brother has a limited entry bull elk tag just thinking and wanting to tinker I guess. Would this bullet be a good choice for big rutting bulls? Ive not tried them yet on anything, in fact haven't purchased of loaded either. I have heard they are a bit touchy to get accurate. What powders would you recommend? Shooting a 22" barreled model 70. thanks
270 Win and 150 ABLR and ELK?

Can't speak specifically of the 150 grain ABLR from the 270 Win, but I can speak with a measure of authority concerning the 150 grain ABLR launched from the .280 Remington.

I'd be okay with the 150 ABLR in a 270. I think it is a little soft and loses a bunch of weight up close, but it does retain a decent frontal area and penetrates decently. I was hot to run them in my 270WSM, but after getting my load worked out, I went back to PT's. I'd worry a little about an ABLR on a large scapula of a bull elk. I am sure it would make it through, just not sure how it would work beyond that. Others have had excellent luck with them and alot of people run Berger's and have excellent results. I am just a little fussier in what I want a bullet to do. I would bet they are demon's on pure rib shots though.
Accuracy was tough to come by for me. Had to seat them pretty deeply to make them shoot real well. For a 270 Win, H4831, RL22, IMR7828 would be the area I would look in for them.
Plus, I know Mike hammered a good bull with his 280 with no issues. So they work..
