.277 130gr Speer Hot Cor

I’ve never sectioned the 130gr .277 caliber Hot Cor to check what the jacket taper actually looks like, I just knew it worked well on game. It adds some insight to its performance. A thin jacket at the nose to open quickly, and tapers to a visibly thicker base to retain weight for good penetration. Not a bonded bullet but a stout one all the same.

Good pic, thanks for sharing. I have a co-worker that shoots that same bullet in his .270 and really likes it. My personal favorite is the 120gr in the 25.06 but i've also used the 150gr in 30.06 and .308 with excellent results as well. The Speer Hot-Cor is no doubt a very tough bullet.

It is a fine bullet that performs well, fulfilling the design provided. Fine job sectioning the bullet to display construction.

I've used the 165 gr. Hot Core on the .308 and 30-06 and it's a good bullet I never did like the 130 gr. bullet in the .270, always went with the 150 gr., usually the Sierra Game King or Nosler Partition. I've run the 250 gr. Hot Cores in the .35 Whelen but never got a shot on game when I was using that bullet. According to friends that one works very well.

I've used the Hot Cor some in the past. It always worked well for me.

Used the 140 hot-cor for in 6.5 mm and 350 hot-cor in 416, and 160 hot-cor in 7mm. Always performed excellent for me with great accuracy. Big fan of that bullet.
