I just loaded up a bunch of 140 AB test loads over RL-17 for my 280 AI. I tried RL-22 and got some 1" groups, but when I tried RL-17 (not sure why I chose RL-17 to try)with the 140 BT I was in the .3"-.5" range. So I figured it would work well with the 140 AB as well.

What kind of speed are you getting with RL 17?

I believe 57 gr put me at 3220. But 56 shot the best (.3", twice) and I think it was around 3140. I can't go as long as you so my max load with RL-22 has always been a few grains behind yours. I also can't get the same speed with the 160 AB as you. I don't have enough room for the slower powder.

If the weather is nice the next few mornings I'll get out and see how it does with the 140 AB and RL-17.

What's your AI throated at? I custom chambered mine at 3.45" with a 28" tube. I know I cheated big time but she shoots and you can pull the trigger all day long!

Mine was built on a Savage 110 action. With a 160 AB, I'm on toughing the lands @ 3.345"
