I just got the wife a winchester featherweight. Im looking to put together a load with relatively mild recoil for her. Anyone have any suggestions on a good load using a 150gr AB?

I just picked up a bag of 2nds from Shooter's Pro Shop in Bend a few weeks ago. The first trip out to the range one of my 3 shot groups, at 100 yards, was under .50". The second trip to the range with the same load opened up a bit. I'm not sure if it's shooter error, or the change in the weather...Anyway here's the load:

150 grain AB - IMR 4895 51.0 grains 2,900+FPS

I usually never use IMR 4895 in my .30-06 so I was surprised to see the results. Good luck with developing a load.

Classic load that has given similar results for me is 58 grains of IMR 4350.
2900+ and sub moa.

Reloder 19 also has done well, don't remember the charge tho.

Since the rifle is a featherweight, make sure the stock fits her and invest in a good recoil pad like the Pachmyer Decelerator or Sims.
As for loads, I would look at starting loads with RL19 and IMR4350.
