30-06 165BT and/or AB loads

That is some great shooting.. If I was to own a 30-06, it would be hard to not give the 57-58 grains of IMR4350 a try with the 165.. Seems like it works in a whole lot of rifles.

My go to load is 165 grain BT or AB and 56.6-57 grains of H4350 with Win WLR primers and Nosler or R-P brass. Getting like 2800-2850 fps out of the 24" barrel on my Model 70.

OAL 3.275"

Shoots real tight.

I'm running 58 grains of IMR4350 and getting sub 1/2 MOA groups. I'm getting 3000fps out of my 26" Hart. This is a max load so work up t it.

I have been into M1 Garand Shooting the last few years, and this has driven me to IMR-4064 @ 48.5 grs for use with the 165 to 168 gr bullets. Velocity is 2700 fps and the AccuBond is very accurate and deadly on deer with these loads. My Garands love the polymer tip.

This load is a nice middle of the road loading that has worked in all of my 30-06 rifles.

My BDL likes 165gr Partitions with a mild load of IMR-4350. It shoots 58.0gr and 58.2gr right at MOA but it cloverleafs at 56.0gr at 2740fps. Worked well as a loaner rifle for my recoil-shy in-laws for a few years.

I never worked up any other powder/bullet loads. One work-up and I was done. It deserves some more attention.

I know the OP was asking about 165 AB/BT info, but I'd thought I'd include my 180 AB/ET info.

180AB:
Nosler brass trimmed to 2.48"
55.5gn of H414
GM210M
OAL 3.390"
Avg velocity: 2832 fps

180ET:

OAL 3.390"
Avg velocity 2750fps

Those are some excellent groups, Rich. Very impressive. You results make me want to look at heavier bullets in my 30-06.

Thanks, all of that out of a bone stock Vanguard Sporter.

Rich,
Excellent groups you have there. Proves the 30-06 can shoot tight ones too!
