30-06 stumpper?

Corey, the Tikka 30-06 has a 1/11 twist same as 2 of my 30-06 with Lilja,Bartlein barrels.

I would think with that twist 2900/3000fps with 165gr bullets and It's nice to have the velocity along with accuracy.

My powder of choice for 180gr Partition bullet is H-4350 and I'm using that powder for the 150gr E-Tips. I've shot alittle bit of IMR-4007ssc in the 30-06 good powder along with IMR-4064.

I may try some H4350, but I'm quickly running out of time to get stuff loaded and to practice. I put it off too long this year.

Take a look at bullets results with H4350, and 165gr bullets in his 30.06.

Well I went back out and shot a 14 shot group (letting the barrel cool between 4 round strings) I got an average veolcity of 2769, ES 42.34 and SD 12.60. The group size was not too bad either. I'm not happy at all with the velocity but it looks like I will have to live with it this year.


I don't have enough time to try another powder. And what sucks is I have 4 pounds or more of RL 22 left.

The velocity is not all that bad, and the standard deviation is good, which indicates that this is a reasonable load. If accuracy is a problem (which does not appear to be the case), play with seating depth.

No accuracy is fine actually. This is my elk load (spike only) and i'm hoping it will be enough. I will just live with it this year.

I think your load will be more than adequate for elk. I would not hesitate to use this load for elk. Best of luck on your hunt.
