30-40 Krag loads ????

I picked up a nice hunter the other day. A sporterized 1898 US Springfield Armory Krag. Does anyone have some good load suggestions with 180 gr or 200 grain partitions or Ballistic tip/ Abs? (yes I know it is a weak action that must be kept at around 40 K pressure) I do not plan on having a hot rod. Just a fun retro hunter.

I plan on keeping this rifle as a peep sighted gun, no scope. Right now it has open sights. I will be using it for deer & bear hunting here in PA. Should be fun :?:

I know speer has load data for the krag. your a lucky guy I use to use one for eradicating farm pests. there great to teach youngsters on. contact nosler and see what they say. to my knowledge they do not have data in there number 6 manual.

I was hoping Nosler would see this post & comment. I have data from Speer & Hornady.......NOTHING in my nosler book. Hopefully they can give me some loads to use here.

My Nosler number 4 has 150 165 180 and 200 grain info on the Kraig.

but really, you should be just fine with using any bullet manual and stick to the same bullet weights for the basic information. Just because Nosler had luck with one load in their test barrel doesn't mean that it will work for you.
