If anybody would like to run a QL for me I would appreciate it.

I'm looking to make some subsonic 300BLK. I've got 175 grain Custom Competitions and 180 grain Ballistic Tips. Looking at the existing data for heavier bullets and what I have on hand, I would be using Accurate 5744 and Alliant 300MP. I could also get some IMR 4227. I'm running an 8" barrel and I'll be using Nosler brass. I want to be under 1100 FPS, and preferably right at 1050 FPS. Thanks!

Looks like I might have to venture into uncharted territory and try a few even lower than QL will go.

I'm using 208gr amax and have problems staying below 1200 fps and having enough gas to cycle the action with a can attached. I settled on 10.3 and have a temp range of ~55 to 70 degrees. Its a hit or miss if it holds the bolt open on the last round. It also goes supersonic when it gets below 50.

This is my QL for comparison. If its a semi-auto, I think you'll have cycling problems if you get below 30k psi. To get down to the fps you're after, you will be around 20k psi. It may not even have enough juice to eject the case.

I wonder if the faster pistol powders would work better. I have Red Dot, Green Dot, Blue Dot, HS6, Unique, Longshot, & Trailboss.

Trailboss will probably be your best bet. I dont have access to the QL right now, but I will check back tonight and see if anyone else has ran it for you.

It appears through some more research that IMR 4198 might work as well. There was a thread on 300blktalk about 10.8 grains of IMR 4198 with a Hornady 178 that was subsonic and cycled 100%.

Cool. Here's some info:

I like both of those. I'm going to try them all. I've had my F1 approved for a while but just got around to getting all the parts to build an upper.

I picked this up at a recent gun show. 9” 300 BLK upper on a pistol lower with sigtac brace. I am working on getting a trust set up and will SBR this pistol as soon as I get approved. Its a pretty neat little cartridge but I have been having a hard time getting it to cycle and lock back with subsonic loads. I think one of these would make a dandy home defense setup.

Wincheringen, be mindful when you use the trail boss. When you compress the load we couldnt get consistent accuracy. Yet, when we went lower, you have to be very careful, as we had a round get stuck in the barrel. That was bad juju as the barrel was trashed. We use 220 grain nosler bthp.with 10.3 to 10.5 grains of aa-1680. We zeroed at 50 yards and it is 4" low at 100. We are using 16" barrels with 1-7 twist. Hope this helps.

sub load using blem nosler 190 cc 10.2 gr imr 4227, CCI 500 @ 980 fps out of a 16" barrel with pistol gas.
