300 RUM Powder, Need to Change

Since Retumbo seems to be non-existent, I am looking for some of your other powder type/loads you use with this caliber. Here are my specs:

Nosler Brass
Fed 215M primers
200g. AB
Remington 700 Sendero 26" Barrel with a brake

I have my dope charts out to 900 yards and never shot that far. I have killed a yote at 650+ and normally leave that as my furthest reaching kill range. I have shot at targets outs to 800 yards, but for me, don't see the need to go out past 700 yards. I realize I am going to have to re sight and re-dope so if you could please tell me roughly what your drop is with your powder and how close your combo is to mine.

I know the 210 LRAB is right around the corner, but Wolf season is getting real close and got a few hundred of the 200 AB's.

You might look at H1000, RL-25, RL-33 or IMR7828. Those are just some powders that come to mind for me though. I'm sure others will chime in with other suggestions. I've loaded for .338 RUM's and .338 Edge's, but not the .300 RUM.

Seems like a good chance to try out RL33 or V N570 as well. Those two should be right at home in the big case with 200-210's.

You just missed out on Retumbo at Powder Valley. I had to order it in 1lb cans instead of a 8lb'er but they had it and H-1000 about a week ago. R-33 would work well in the 300RUM case with heavy bullets.

I currently shoot RL-25 getting 3050-3100 fps, excellent accuracy with the 200 AB. I shot IMR 7828 also but could not get the velocity compared to RL-25. Ramshot Magnum is also a good one to consider.

WC-872 is great fuel for the 200gr AB's.
Should be able to push them 3200+

Rl25 and 200ab! Even ramshot magunum does well. Behind the 200. Rl25 I'm sitting 3150 average velocity and about 3100 with magnum

I burned way more h1000 and my 300 RUM preferred it over retumbo anyway.

I never had need or desire to switch. Was first powder I tried from it. Retumbo was short stint. 50fps more velocity bit not as accurate or consistent as h1000 for me anyway. I was shooting the old LSS model.
Super accurate for what it was.

Another friends sendero preferred retumbo, while another preferred h1000 again...

Id give h1000 a try if you can find it. Great powder that's often overlooked anymore it seems.

Thanks guys. I have access to about 8 lbs of RL25 and multiple pounds of HL1000. Retumbo has been my go to but its scarce and I am not digging the fact I will have to buy singles from different lots. A local guy has used RL25 in his 338 Edge and prefers it over Retumbo. He could not say how it would react in a 300 RUM.

Is WC-872 as clean burning as other powders when comparing it to Retumbo, RL-25 and IMR 7828?

Also is there loading data available for the 300 RUM using the WC-872 with 200 AB?

Don, only thing we ever shot in it was W860 and W872.
Since it's milsurplus there is not published data.
W872 is typically 8-12% slower then H870, so I start with H870 data and work up.
