I have loaded a little for the 300 Savage and have had great success on paper with accuracy and all but i have yet to kill anything with any of my handloads. I have it down to three different bullets-all are 150 grain-The Speer Roundnose, Sierra Gameking, and Hornady Interlock. I think a Partition is a little much for a deer round especially when its top speed is 2680 fps at the muzzle. So for a doe tag to be filled, i want to know the pros and cons if anyone has experience with this cartridge besides the Remington Cor-Lokt loads.

Try the Nosler 170 grain round nose.

My .300 Savage, model 99, and that bullet are made for each other. Does a great job on Whitetails. The only 30 caliber I like to hunt with anymore.

Never looked at anything else, no need.

Regards,

What is your load as that is curious?!? I also want to say that i want to use 150 grainers but with that 170 i could shoot an elk now and again-yet to me the idea of a Roundnose bullet is maggies drawers in a Savage 99 as u can use spitzers. But for the range of a Savage a roundnose is all you would really need. I like Imr-4895 and 4064 in my 99's.

I would also lean towards the 170 gr PT, perfect bullet for the 300 Savage.
Why not try the 150gr or the 165 gr AB? These would allow you to streach the barrel a bit.

I agree with JD. the 165 AB would do for everything!

i like the 150gr Partition, perfect for the 300 savage. i'm using varget cronos right at 2650. i also do have some 170gr partitions loaded for open sights using w760 2500fps
