I found that my 300 Weatherby shoots 165 gr Partitions really well. I am thinking about using it this year to hunt deer, but I normally use 180 gr. stuff. Has anyone had any experience w/ this set up or similiar combo? Does it work well?

Thank you for your responses in advance.

One of the most accurate loadings I've ever fired from a hunting rifle has been with the 300 Weatherby and 165 grain Partitions. 3/8 inch @ 100 yards prone with bipods. Its a very good combination for the lighter stuff and can work well for elk in a pinch.

Since the Partition is a heavy duty bullet, you can safely go down in weight to 165-gr. Conversely, heavy for caliber bullets (like 180-gr.) on deer should be of lighter construction like the Ballistic Tip or Solid Base.
